No deaths and 19 injuries - I suppose SZ could be one of them, but the odds are against it.
Everything's cool in Seattle. Minor structural damage, and slight psychological distress.
Thanks for asking!

Also posted this in Basketball, hope that's cool...
I also live in seattle. I was on the seventh floor in my office. I could see our building swaying back and forth in relation to other buildings. The concrete levels of a parking garage outside my window were moving like waves in an ocean. Cars were swaying and bouncing on it. I really thought the building was going to collapse.
Like an idiot I sat at my desk instead of under it and didn't take cover. I just stared with my jaw dropped.
Looks like the human injury toll is very light considering.
Oh yeah, was down at the riots last night as well. Crazy 24 hours.
I was at the Mardi Gras celebration to look at breasts not riot, and I have the video footage to prove it in case anyone was wondering.

The quake hit while I was taking the bar exam. Quite a sight seeing 900 people run for the exits! I've lived in So. Cal, so this was old hat, but people up here were freaked! We got all of 15 minutes and back to the test. One more day, too.
Thanks for the concern

Same town, new way mother nature going after us.
This is I-5 in Centralia, the main (pretty much only, this side of the mountains in some stretch) N-S thoroughfare connecting us to Oregon.
The Chehalis overflowed it's banks.

Centralia/Chehalis is about 50 miles north of SZ in Longview/Kelso, which is on the Columbia River across from Oregon.
I used to do gigs in Centralia, and that is some serious flooding.

Oh, this thread brings back memories.
We're dry here along the Columbia.

Zen...best of luck on the bar exam. Knock 'em out of the park.
I believe that experiencing an eathquake..at any magnitude..requires one to come to grips with relationship between "carbon life forms" and the true meaning of "insignificance" (except for most those having grown up on/near an active fault...but those loons are horrified of a tornado...go figure)

Taxman the earth quake was years ago.
Hopefully Zen did well on the bar exam since he's been practicing law for some time.

Shoot. These are from the Seattle PI.
Which is rumored to be up for sale, without a buyer. This likely means the Seattle is soon a 1 paper town. Bummer.

At what point do you no longer call this a "creek"?
Elk swimming to higher ground.
It will be a SAD day when Frank Blethen is the only publisher of a daily newspaper in Seattle. Please, please, please, Post Intelligencer, continue to publish at least an on-line version.
