0 Subject: Don't Bother With Boldwin Anymore

It's obvious he is beyond rational debate at this point. I'm calling on all rational posters, left and right alike, to just ignore every stupid thread and post of his and pray nightly that he just goes away.

It'll take a great deal of willpower, but hopefully together we can make the board a more productive place.

Since Boldy terms me a mindless troll with no logical capacity at all...am I free to continue to banter with him?

It would make the board a better place if you didn't, in my personal opinion. Hopefully he'll go away if you don't.

Please, take your trolls with you and don't let the screendoor...

I'm much happier on my own threads collecting what interests me.

in layman's terms, that means he'd rather masturbate than have sex with another human.

I'll make poor Dwetz and bili a deal.

Have a moderator cull the trolls off my own threads I started and I'll stay off everyone elses. We'll try it for a week and see how it goes.

I really don't need bili reciting poetry or some troll making sexual references loading up my discussion going line by line on HR 3200 any more than DWetz wants to hear the truth.

There is no bigger troll here than you Baldwin.

you wanna go post by post, and i assure you would be far and away the leader in name-calling, with your addiction to terms like "moron", "idiot", and the like...

if you post nonsense and lies, of course people are going to respond to you and call you on them.

what the hell are you asking for? that you get free reign with your nonsense?

Personally, I would much rather we get the old, semi-reasonable, Baldwin back.

Can't you get a shot, or take a pill or something?

Maybe don't visit the Whirled-Nuts daily, but just weekly or monthly?

Read some main-stream news source for a few days?

The world is not as sinister as you think it is.

"Have a moderator cull the trolls off my own threads I started and I'll stay off everyone elses. We'll try it for a week and see how it goes."

Can you delete post 0 from a thread?

Go away. I'm not talking to you.

Seriously, Boldwin, read this well. DO NOT POST AGAIN IN THIS THREAD. This is a simple request, in simple English. Do not talk to me any more.

If you cannot follow this simple request, then perhaps we can have a moderator force you to follow it.

i'm with Bili on #8. while i never even saw anything even remotely eye-to-eye with Baldwin, the last 12 to 18 months have been seriously like talking to one of those crazy guys screaming in Times Square.

prior to that, the lack of reason was at least framed by a comprehendible argument.

Now it's all Nazis, Death Panels, and other assorted boogeymen.

MBJ gets one point toward the worthless subhuman excrement troll list. Only 999 more to go until you get your own thread.

What's got into you DW? Threatening people with "moderators" and placing people on "lists"?

You made your case in the original post, but then you went off the deep end in post 10 and MBJ was right to call you out. Chill.

Point partially taken.

That said, I would really prefer not to be bothered with him any more, and if he can manage to honor that simple request it would be greatly appreciated. I believe I have made this clear at this point.

DW, its a mesaage forum. No one is forcing you to interact with him/her. If you don't care for a particular person addressing you then you have two reasonable choices; ignore him or find a place to chat politics where the company is more to your liking.

"DW, its a mesaage forum. No one is forcing you to interact with him/her."

He is if he keeps initiating the conversation, despite a specific request to the contrary, yes?

It's not like I'm asking him to never post again (even if I do think that would make the world a better place). I'm just asking for that in this one thread.

Basically, this is a bit of a plea for a way to make this board a more productive place. Poorly framed, out of frustration? Sure. I admit it. I apologize.

But there's so much potential for intelligent discussion here and it all gets drowned out by the ramblings of ONE person. I don't see why that one person should be allowed to ruin things for everyone else.

There's a number of posters on here about which I disagree with a lot of things. I'd wager a large sum of money there aren't any that I agree with on everything. I'm not making threads about any of THOSE people. And I know for an absolute fact I'm far from the only person that feels this way.

So if you want to call the possibility of going to moderators a dick move, fine. I'm doing it with the intentions of making this a more productive place to have discussions and get a range of perspectives. It's insanely hard to do that when one person makes such a sterling effort to screw things up for everyone else.

No. An interaction takes two.

And personally, I don't think you have to apologize to the forum.

By the way, this isn't the first time someoen has tried to exclude specific people from contributing to a thread. Jag did the same thing and was mostly made fun of for it.

"No. An interaction takes two."

Well, he's interacting with me. I may do my best to avoid said interaction, but if he does things which cross my sensory path (and I'd be delighted with an ignore feature, would solve this problem, but I know it won't happen), by definition there is an interaction taking place.

My take is the DW got called a name, saw red, and started this thread in the heat of the moment.

It's happened to all of us.

He seems, (or seemed until yesterday) to be a reasonable sort, so I'm disposed to give him a mulligan.

When liberals get in power they discover a right not to be offended that only applies to them.

"My take is the DW got called a name, saw red, and started this thread in the heat of the moment. "

Mostly this. The frustration has been building for a while though; I'd love to try to get into in-depth discussions about things (see: high-speed rail thread, and Madman's invaluable contributions in the health care thread); those are getting drowned out more and more though it seems.

Of course, I'm sure he gives a rats ass about making the board a more productive place, so I imagine my antipathy is only going to grow.

Have you ever heard of just ignoring someone? Baldwin isn't forcing anyone to interact with him. It's your choice. He has every right to make his viewpoints known. Either ignore him or debate him. Trying to silence someone through group bullying is just a good display of childish and intolerant behavior.

I'm calling on all rational posters, left and right alike

I'm calling on all irrational lefties and righties to jump on board the libertarian train! :D

"Either ignore him or debate him."

Difficult to ignore him if he spams the board with the same garbage over and over.

Difficult to debate him if you ask him specific questions (to try to get a handle on the position) and he refuses to answer them.

It's the equivalent of someone shouting in your ear "LALALALALALALALA" while plugging their ears so they can't hear you. It's really, really annoying.

Perhaps I do need to handle it better. But I know for a fact I'm not the only one that has this same issue; I know for a fact that I am not the major part of the problem here; and I'm frustrated that nothing is changing about it (or likely will change no matter what my behavior).

PS: Save me some room on the libertarian train, please. I'd like to at least visit for a while.

People are annoying, that's for sure. That's probably why my dad's best friend is his collie. Their relationship seems to be completely without friction.

I agree that it is annoying to see good discussions get sidetracked and turn into personal trash talk, but I just tend to skip past some people's entire posts and move on.
