Given that Brazil is a signatory to the Hague Cionventions re International Child Custody and that convention stipulates that the courts with jurisdiction are those of those childs NATIVE country; I completely fail to understand our nations maintaining of ties with Brazil during this event, given their courts previous refusal to comply with those conventions.
We should have, IMHO, immediately severed ALL financial relations with Brazil. Cut off ALL Brazil imports to the US, place a travel prohibition to Brazil and let the economic impact drive them to honoring the agreement(s). (And I think ALL signatory countries should have done the same.)
