MLB Supplemental Draft Draft Utility - Draftime Player must be in the Yahoo database at the time he is picked in the supplemental draft. No time limit initially, unless deemed necessary Straight Draft, Reverse order of standings
Prospect Draft & Rules Straight Draft, Reverse order of standings To be conducted BEFORE the Supplemental Draft Under 300 AB's or 125 IP to be draft eligible You can retain up to 3 prospect eligible players from one season to next There are 5 rounds in the prospect draft - minus a pick for each prospect you carry over. Any player at any level (as long as they are under limits) can be drafted as prospect. College, International, Little League etc.
Prospects may be called up in-season and can be sent back and forth to prospect list until they meet the prospect thresholds. Prospects may be called up or sent down anytime in-season or off-season prior to keeper declaration. If called up and made an MLB keeper, prospects will lose their prospect status. If you drop them after they meet the threshold, any team is eligible to add them. If they reach the threshold while not on the active roster you must call them up within 7 days or lose their rights. So, for example, if an unrostered player exceeds the threshold on a game that started on a Monday, and the current owner fails to promote him, he would become a Free Agent at 12:00:01 AM US Pacific Daylight Savings Time on the following Monday. If a prospect reaches the limit within 7 days of regular season end, they can only be kept as a regular keeper. Prospect rights may be traded. Prospect picks may be traded as long as receiving team has enough spots to make the draft pick at time of draft. You can trade for as many prospects as you like - however you'll need to have 3 or less at the time of the Prospect Draft

Am I the only person here who listens to ESPN's 'Fantasy Focus' on a regular basis?
I will note that I still prefer Yahoo football to ESPN football. So its not like I am an ESPN supporter - just the regular website for NBA/MLB. And I have timed it when I had to use both apps to set squads and search for stuff... (and now have to do more of that with everything blocked at new job). I can get through my daily team routine in half the time with half the clicks and filtering on ESPN than what I do on Yahoo.
I don't necessarily understand the question, but if it helps, you can freely move your prospect keepers in and out without losing your claim on them. And you are free to drop players and pick up FA's.
That's correct. I see you already made the exchange. If you drop Springer after he reaches the threshold of 300 career ABs, you lose your rights to him. Similarly if you do not roster a prospect within 7 days of reaching the threshold, you will also lose your rights. So, beware the circling vultures.
Here are my prospects to date. Two goals for prospect keepers in my mind. First get some help for this year, then get a potential keeper quality player for the future (consistent top 50). 2013 was not so good for me, 2014 got me Abreu, Betances was supposed to give me some 2015 support.
I would have thought that one consistent top 50 every two years is about as good as anyone can do. Not sure your 2010 crop exceeded that. Did you keep and/or trade all five?
2013 Wil Myers Zack Wheeler Danny Hultzen Daniel Straily AJ Griffin
2014 Zach Wheeler Danny Hultzen Jose Abreu, 1B, CWS Tanner Roark, SP, WAS Khris Davis, OF, MIL
2015 Jameson Taillon Dellin Betances Andrew Heaney Tsuyoshi Wada Nick Gordon
Strasburg and Zimmermann have been keepers ever since, tho I had to redraft [round 9ish?] and carry Strasburg's injured arm for a whole year just to keep him. There was some nasty league shenanigans associated with that one. I was hoping Mejia would inherit the closer role but not that year. Brantley took more than a year to prove he was keeper worthy so I lost him. Castro seemed like I would be carrying him for 6 years before he finally lived up to his hype so I gave up on the idea of waiting it out, tho I believe he'll top out great.
The success rate of TJ repairs is much worse than people are led to believe, but so far Strasburg and Zimm seem to be the fortunate exceptions.
I still think carrying 4 future true keepers and a future closer on your prospect keeper list at the same time is bragging rights material.
I also have had Greinke and Kenley Jansen, Trout...guys of that quality but early keeper rules made it almost impossible to keep a player until he justified keeper status.
I once had the dream setup that dropped dead as soon as I put it together.
1) Frank Thomas, I was in the stadium with the whole place chanting MVP...hair standing on end...and him on my fantasy team and my real team...wow. But then the refs turned on him. 1) Helton, got several epic years [@48 HR, @.350] but then he faded pretty bad. 2) Alphonso Soriano when he was still at 2B and still Alphonso Soriano[@30-40HR/@30-40SB]. SS) Nomar Garciaparra [30HR/20SB] the year he got injured and never made it back. But what a monster he should have been and was right up until then. SS) Furcal when he was a 48SB wunderkind. 3B?)Arron Boone when he was a 25HR/35SB roided monster OF) Maglio Ordonez [30HR/20SB] OF) Carlos Beltran his first great year.
I thot I was set for life in this league...maaan...and then it all fell apart in like 2 years.
Andrew Miller locks it up for the Yankees, notching final 5 outs. K'ed three on 28 pitches/16 strikes.
And that sir is why Betances really didn't go number one. Didn't want to say it before Miller was drafted but there were lots of people saying that Miller would end up the closer.
Well, even if Betances doesn't close, his numbers as a set up man are very good, so I'll no doubt leave him in my lineup daily.
Closers in rotoguru leagues are always problematic. I am never fast enough to pick them up mid-season. Wish there were some way to reduce the effect on leagues of those who consistently get them all. Many leagues have been reduced to closer chasing.
Bean make no mistake, I think he was a good pick up where you got him. He's closer of the future and you can even store him on your prospect bench if he's not closing. I just meant the number one pick comment.
With his sixth inning blast off Roberto Hernandez, Trout became the youngest player in baseball history to accumulate 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases, accomplishing the feat at 23 years and 253 days old, 56 days younger than the previous record-setter Alex Rodriguez. For good measure, he added a three-run bomb off Chad Qualls in the eighth inning to lead the Halos to victory. Already the game's best all-around player, it's scary to think how much better Trout will become. - Rotoworld
The less recognized thing about the truly great players is the incredible length of their useful careers. The peaks of their careers only serving as a reminder of the tall broad shoulders of the rest of their careers.
<356> Well, in my defense I did ask all of you to check your teams. seems maybe Punk did not do a thorough job of that. If any of the rest of you haven't bothered to date, its on you.
I have removed Taylor from GO's roster. It was an add without a drop or I would've given the old player back. I do not plan to adjust stats for GO, not knowing what a replacement may have done. I would recommend that Punk make room on his roster for Taylor if he wants to be sure that someone else doesn't repeat what GO has done. I cannot add a "K" to the correct Michael Taylor now, nor can I remove the "K" from the wrong Taylor. There is no way for me to stop people from making mistakes either.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention Boldwin. If something like this happens again, please send me an e-mail if you notice it as well as posting here. I may be able to correct it faster.
Whoops, sorry guys - was relying on that K. I'll add him to watchlist with is my trick in G20 after I confirm a guy is not available.
Yeah I was adding a hitter that day regardless - it was an empty slot on a light day. Want me to leave open a UT slot on a full day or something like to offset? Or sit Encarnacion for a day he plays or something like that?
I've got two Nationals pitchers and Ian Desmond playing for the other team. Honestly I think he intends to set a new MLB record averaging an error a day.
I wasn't aware that "Check your roster" Meant to go through a list of all the players to make sure they had a K next to them if it was a prospect. Next time i'll make sure to do that, thanks for your snark.
<363> See #291, and I figured a few would not check it at all, and others would do only a quick check. The Taylor mistake was certainly not an easy thing to detect. Three Hail Marys and all is forgiven.
You do know that my infalability should not be questioned, right? Perhaps that was indirectly responsible.
"I once made a mistake. I thought I had made a mistake but I was wrong."
I've given Gator an invite to take over PanchoVilla's team. You may recall that he was odd man out pre-season for a replacement manager. He should be managing the team soon.
As long as Gator does not move Pederson back to his starting lineup for today, all should be OK now. Gator already dropped Rodon, and I made the adjustment for Pederson.
I know I don't need to tell you guys that patience is the operative word here, this league is quite unusual, and requires attentiveness when adding players. That said, the honeymoon will be over quickly if this activity continues.
It was first day and yes I was licking my chops when I saw free agent list. Not having a good day on my other league. David Price just blew up my ERA and WHIP and my bench is 6 for 6 with a homer while my starts are 1 for 7
