I heard the bad news that he passed away from a stroke and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Lots of memories here. I'm sure he's tweeting something controversial right now in his next life.

it's no secret he and i absolutely didn't get along, but no doubt he has loved ones who are grieving.

my heart goes out to them.

RIP Baldwin, and may you be in the resting place you often spoke about with glee.

Wow man. Monty told me as well. I actually talked to him on the phone a few times years ago when he had some personal things I could help him with, and regardless of how anyone got along with him on here, I'm confident that on a one on one basis even his greatest adversaries would know he was a nice, sincere guy. RIP and love to his family.

While he could be intolerant and conspiratorial, he was actually my window into understanding, and to some degree, sympathy for group of our fellow Americans for whom the current world isn't working.

I'm currently immersing myself in rural, and somewhat conservative areas here in NM, and I often think about Baldwin's perspective when I try and relate to and connect with people I'm trying to help prevent or overcome health disparities endemic in small-town America.

Right or wrong, he taught me some things, and I am in debt to him for not allowing me to fall too easily from disagreement to demonization.

RIP Baldwin, and may your resting place be filled with all your wishes. No more earthly debates are of any concern.

Condolences to family and close friends.

I will say a prayer for them and you in this difficult time.

Baldy would have been insufferable.

But I still wish he was here to see his Alt-right dreams fulfilled.

I've thought a bit about this and I don't think I agree.

I mean the week or so after the election, sure. And of course there are things he'd like about Trump and as always he'd look for a positive spin. But he'd also acknowledge that Trump is neither a reliable conservative nor a reliable Christian by Baldy's standards.

I even think once it was proven to him that Breitbart under Bannon has been publishing pro-white nationalist materials, I believe he'd take some time but eventually would come around, more or less.

You know I would have had a good time driving that point home.
