0 Subject: Who was the owner of LA?

Posted by: Rogue's Strikers
- [24540291] Mon, Jul 23, 20:22

I just signed up GSB today (this stuff looks really cool) and I got LA in League E. (I mentioned I was a Gurupie, so I guess he put me in with u guys.) My inbox has a few E-mails from teams that were obviously dealing with the previous owner, and I don't want to take someone's team from them. Did they quit? Or just not pay on time?

hmmmmmmmmm, no more 5yr $3.75mil contracts. Try working out 5yr deals for the guys with low MLB experience...

Those numbers are normal for this league. Salaries are based solely on ratings. The higher the ratings, the higher the salary. We've been bitching about this for 3 seasons now.

The commish didn't change it and then change back. It was just guys with 1 or 2 mid 200's categories weren't costing as much. A 400-400-400-400 hitter costs much more than a 495-250-250-495.

I signed a 499-472-270-440 guy to a 5yr 3.75mil contract last season in B.

Now my 498 460 463 339 guy wants $9mil a year!!!

All I ask is for consistancy!

Nate and the Commish were discussing some glitches with League B salary demands last week. Apparently Nate had some stud pitchers who signed 5 year deals for 750k/year. You might want to talk to the Commish about it J.

And if he was a free agent, what would he get?

If we had true consistency, your other guy would have asked for a lot more.

Hey Rogue's Strikers, I made a trade with the moderator of your LA team. I owe you my first round draft pick. I was going to make him rate the first round to insure what he got. You can give me an idea of what you want but you being a newbie, I will rate my own draft

Or, I will give you the option of looking back in the transactions and seeing what our trade was. If you want to reverse the trade, I will do that. Hopefully not, I want to keep the 2B, but I will let you make the choice.

Ok, the N.Y. Mets are seriously considering tearing down.

9 and f|_|cking 26 is ridiculous. I even beefed up this offseason!!!!!!!!!

Scott Forster RP 434 449 381 458 would be the first to get your hands on, but if I do decide to rebuild, everyone on my MLB roster will available.

Looking back on that deal TB I'd have to say that I'd rather have kept my 2B. However, a deal is a deal. Just like I can't send those players back to the Northern League and get my money back... ;)

For the draft pick I can say that top relief pitching is my prefered choice. You would know better than me what players are top notch so I'll let you decide.

Glad you don't want to trade back.

I spoke with Adam and I have no doubts that you could afford all those Northern Leaguers. ;)

Funny that you say a good RP because that's what I usually end up with. Hopefully everyone will draft like they normally do and you will end up with one of the better ones.

When was the last time a team came back from a 17gm deficit at any point of any season???

Besides, I'm gonna have alot less computer time for a while starting this weekend, and its alot easier to deal with GSB when your team sucks!!!!

I'm keeping my B team together, since they're going for a threepeat, so, it'll be nice to have a rebuilder and a winner! AND I already like my farm, so I wont be down for too long.

J, your team has been getting roughed up a bit too much. much like the real Mets. It is too bad that it has happened to your team, but some times it is good to see underachievers. too bad you team is underachieving as much as montreal is over.

Nobody has talked about the draft yet, but we have another weak year for starting pitching. Plenty of good relief pitching prospects but only a couple starting pitchers. They just get more and more valueable each year.

Overall, I think this might be the worse pitching crop yet. I know I only have maybe 30 pitchers rated before the 4-1-1 slappers and that is pretty bad.

Actually TB, I think the pitching looks a lot better than the hitting in this draft. In fact, I think this might be the best draft ever for pitchers, at least for the top 20 pitchers, but it's definitely the worst ever for hitters.

Some people mentioned that they were going to save their draft sheets. If you do, send them to me right after the draft so I can use them when I do my draft analysis.

I have a lot of RP rated high but not many SP. Hitting might be weak, but I have roughly 38 pitchers rated above the slowest and oldest 4-1-1 and 3-4-1 hitter out there.

TB, you may be right. I'm just going off my first grouping, in which I have twice as many pitchers as hitters. More RPs than SPs, but I think the number of 1st-round quality SPs is higher than in past drafts.

I have a couple of questions.

1) If I send a player from AAA to AA, will it hurt his growth? (Just for organisational purposes I'd rather put my gaining guys in AA, but not if a demotion will hurt them.)

2) At what age do players start declining in skills? Is it a set age or more of a 32-35 type thing?

Thanks guys.

1) no, players will gain no matter where they are (even in the Northern Leagues!!!!) but, A, AA, AAA it makes no difference.

2) once they hit 34 they start declining

3) extra - once a player hits 30 they will no longer improve at all (you may have already known that one)

players typically don't improve after 5 years of pro service, but sometimes they do. I have a couple guys who are improving right now in their 6th year pro.

if the players has not reached is max skills, and he is 29, he will continue to improve until he either maxes out, or reaches the ago of 30.

Wow, I have never seen anyone still improving going into their 8th season. I have had players with 6 years pro/working on their seventh season still improving. I haven't seen that since the site change over, though. I have had some 5th year guys still improving but most quit after 3 or 4 seasons.

I am going in to tighten my draft at some point today, BPG, but I know I only have 22 pitchers in my first grouping. That grouping consists of all 4-4 and 4-3 hitters(except for a couple of slow 4-3 C and OF. Between grouping 2 and 3, which has the rest of all the 4 star hitters and 3-4 hitters, I have 16 more pitchers.

Part of that is probably me realizing I need to focus more on hitters in this year draft. After the 4-2-3 hitters I don't really care who I get anyways. Now that I have time, I will rate them but I have been getting burnt out rating drafts. Seeing how I usually only get a couple of those guys, I was tempted to not even rate those 50 or so and just let the luck of the draw give me a couple.

I worked on the later groupings on my draft sheet and the pitching drops off badly after about the top 25 guys. One thing that seems to be lacking this year are the 9-star, 450 fastball pitchers that usually fill up my middle groupings. I have only two pitchers in my third grouping (which contains about 30 players).

It does get a bit tiresome rating all these players so I do it in small bits at different times. Otherwise I would go crazy. But I traded away a bunch of prospects this year so I have to spend more time ranking the later parts of the draft. I need to re-stock my minors.

It is a chore, but go at least group the damn players. I rated my pitchers and then just tossed the hitters into groupings. Got more time so I rated the hitters in groups one and two. I am going to rate the hitters in group 3 right now, but it will be half-a$$.
