How'd everyone do to start the season, I played Carnegie who was AXP113's old team and won. Hopefully this is the start of good things to come.

Well, once again, I've aimed pretty low. 2 maxes in 8, one in 4, and one in some other conference (last name Nichols, but I can't remember the conference nor do I want to go look for him). If the ratings of my maxes all stay the same, I'll bring in a whopping +5 class.

My maxes are in 10, 19, 22, 30.

The guy in 10 is not one of Matt's three.

I went after a point guard, two shooting guards and a big man.

Only one guy is over 6'5.

I also have points on about 8 other guys from conf 19 and a couple other guys.

All 4 of my maxes are within my conference (29). Starting out I've got at least 1 RPE (or a scholarship) on 23 guys, 14 of which are in-conference guys.

Now, lets see if I can bring our Losers' winning streak to 12 tonight!!!!!!

I maxed 4 within my conference (27). I also gave 15 guys 1's and offered 8 other scholarships. I'm recruiting a total of 27 guys. During the next 2 weeks I'll probably just max my 4 guys, which will give me an extra 30 RPE to use once the W-3 and W-12 are announced. 20 of the 27 guys are from conference 27.

Is anyone using a similiar strategy?

Lol Twarpy. There seemed to be quite a few of what I needed there so I'm hoping people went shopping elsewhere.

Funny bluehen-my conference 10 guy was not one of MattG's either. Also seems to fit into your other criteria. Uh-oh!!:)

My team is frustrating me to no end. After being up 44-38 at halftime, we score a grand total of 17 points in the second half and end up losing by 23. It was like a whole different team stepped out onto the court after the break. And my current PG may have EXC hands, but I am quickly realizing that something in him is not cut out to be a PG (another 5 TO's tonight). What is it - his fair intelligence?

Twarpy - Nah, I think this was just an abnormality (at least I hope so!). All of my players except one are on sub normal, and the starters get about 30 minutes/game (and for this particular game, no starter even logged 30 minutes). And the breakdown of my first 3 games of the season is:

Game 1: Down by 17 at half; lost by 10.
Game 2: Tied at half; won by 3.
Game 3: Up by 6 at half; lost by 23.

So I don't see a pattern of poor second half performances (and as a matter of fact, I got the general feeling last season that we were better in the second half). So I think this game was just a pathetic performance.

I have decided one thing for sure, though - my next game we will have a different starting PG.

P.S. Why couldn't my PG have sucked it up in the preseason, too, instead of letting me think that he might actually be capable of handling the job? This game sometimes confuses me, but it sure still is addicting.

Durham moves on to 3-0 squeaks by Vicksburg 59-57. Up next is Jackson who is 2-1 and beat Beezer's Squad 71-65... This should be my first True test, Orlando is now 2-1 and I face 3-0 Ocala after Jackson but we'll see what happens. As for highest Recruited, I am going after Funk who is #16 and Lyvers who is #72 MY Conf 17 guy isnt in there although like 6 other guys from that conf are and the only other conf 10 guy is Walser who is a 6-5 +6 but i was looking more for height...

Ugh, wish I would've known that sooner FP. Maxed Waters and Lester from 27, I suspect you maxed both as well judging by there positions on the top 75 list. There's a good chance I'll drop one of these 2 once W-3's come out, probably Lester as he is not 34th best high schooler. My 2 in conf maxes are not on the list and hoping one of them is free so I don't have to drop Waters or Lester.

If I get my hometown recruit(6-2) I'm not sure where to play him, check out his stats, 24.5 PPG 2.8 RPG 1.0 APG 2.2 SPG 4.3 TPG(scouted EEPEF). That has to be the lowest APG for a high school PG.

BMD you are right I'm maxing both Waters (2nd)and Lester (30th), along with Casey Berman (62nd). I was disappointed to see 3 of my 4 maxes on the top 75 list, but all of them are in-conference so I hopefully have a decent chance on each. My other max is Francois Ochsner. Hopefully I'll be the only person maxing him.

BMD, I also don't think that Lester is the 30th best high-schooler. I'm only maxing him because he's a home-town guy and he fits a need on my team.

For anyone whose played for more than one season. When you max a recruit who isn't on the Top 75 list, with how many teams have you been tied on that recruit? Is there a good chance I'm alone on Ochsner?

It depends FP. I'd say there's anywhere between 0-3 other coaches maxing him, probably 1 or 2. Personally the key to recruiting for me is to find that max that no one else is maxing so when W-3's come out you can max a safety, you'd be surprised at some of the guys that are not maxed.

I'm after 2 In conference guys. One hometowner, Roehrig, that J
is trying to steal. And an obvious guy who is on the list at #30
something F+ E+ E+ E+ F+ and tall. The other two are ooc, not
because my conf lacked talent this year, but because the guys I
wanted were hometowners of some very active coaches. Other
two maxed are Luke Olsen of conf 23, who is really high on the
list to my dismay. The other isn't on the list, Hakim Garren, from
the wasteland that is conf 4.

Only recruit for Paducah in the top 75 is Chad Garnett of Waterloo. Stayed in-conference since last year I was able to get clear on 3 good IC guys, and hoping for a repeat. Started out 1-2, UGH! Hopefully we're still good enough to win the conference and get back to the NTT.

Well, I got over .500 for the first time tonight. Little did I expect this would be done with my League 5 team who went 1-23 last year and who won their first game of the season tonight by a convincing 16 points. My League 4 team continues it's struggles, losing its conference opener by 11 points to a previously winless team. However, I think I am finally finding a combination of players that can work well together. It's too bad it's taken me this long into the season to make any headway.

Wednesday will be a big day in conference 29. The San Jose Losers (3-1; 1-0 in conference) host the Portland Schlomoes (2-2; 1-0) as Burger King All-American Quintin Roehrig (PG, Portland High) will be making his official visit to San Jose. Quintin has accepted an invitation to participate with the team during warmups and will have a court side seat to the game at the best venue in the nation. "I'm excited to get out of this sh!thole of a city, I hate Portland. I wish they never recruited me, but I've gotta do whats best for me. Even if that means staying here in this hell hole for college. This game, this experience will go a long way in my decision on where to take the next step towards a career in the SimBA."

The Portland Schlomoes are excited to play the San Jose Losers. Roehrig may not like it here, but we're offering him a package he can't pass up (can you say alumni "donations"). Portland has only lost one hometown recruit it was maxing before, and we don't expect to have any repeat traitors. Stud Freshman Kareem Wilkinson will be giving Roehrig a tour of campus before the game.

Has anyone noticed the effect playing a lot of minutes has on your starters over the course of a season-vis a vis over the course of a game?

Should you rest or sub out your starters more to keep them fresh during a season or does playing them a lot have no effect over the course of a season?

Dropped a game to Jefferson City, not to happy about that, puts me at 3-1. Stewart Funk is now at like #8 on the top 75, good thing he's in conference. other than that i hope i can pick it up next game against Ocala...

There are many differing opinions on the subject, vid. But, after seeing the effects that logging big minutes has had on my players (many condition 9's), I have determined that it does indeed have a profound effect on players. As a result, I took a page out of JKaye and Chris' book of SSB coaching, as well as numerous other SSB coaches, a few seasons back and have all my starters on sub more. I usually keep my backups on sub normal, but in a few cases have had to put them on sub more as well. My starters now usually play very well in the second half of both games and of the season.

Thanks again G Dogg. Last year I started 8-1 and promptly lost four in a row, due in part to injury. Trying to nip that one in the bud this year. Makes sense.

I've gotten off to what could be termed now (in my second season) as my usual bad start. 1-5 is definitely not what I was hoping for, especially not the clean sweep by division foes. Although I suppose I should have realized that I would need more than one season to get this team off the ground. There's a lot I'm still learning.

Started off 4-2 much better than last years 0-5 start I'm currently 69th in the power rankings and my two loses were to great teams. Jackson who is like 12 PR and Ocala who is 58th, my pg had a bad game that one which is why I lost. My next test comes in week nine against clemson who is also 4-2. Currenlty Conf 10 has 5 teams with 4+ wins. So going through my conf schedule will be tough, so far im 1-2... Good luck all. Hopefully I get an NTT bid this year. If not I'll look to run the PTT again.

5-2 after beating KM Schnmoloes. I wasn't impressed with the win, we are going to have to play better than that if we want to beat Jackson and Clearwater, Both 6-1 and in the top 30 or so... Im now 51 PR and my conf is the top conf in the league. And who said we dont pay attention and you were recruiting from my conf... not a good idea considering. How'd everyone else do?

My team is just on an absolute tear. I'm sure they're playing above their heads, everyone, even my bench, is shooting 44% or better. Freshman Clifford Seaman is averaging 25pts a night as my PG. So, he's more of an Allen Iverson than a Jason Kidd, but its working. Due to this success, San Jose is considering backing off of Roehrig and going after another big man, since we're losing both our centers, and my 6'6" SF.

Off to a 6-1 start, won 15 of the last 16 games now. Scored 85 points or more in our last 4 games. Big matchup with the #11 team, Scottsdale next Monday!!!

Again, my psychotic team won by 30. Beat a team ranked in the 200s by 6, beat a team ranked around 100 by 30. RPI now 30-something. Still, I remember last year where I got to a rank of 9 before the bottom fell out so I'm not sure what to think of these guys yet. Holding my breath.

Play Minneapolis and Columbus in the next week so I will get some read I hope.

Not doing so well, oh and Matt, you should be sort of impressed with your win. You kept a 57% shooter in HS to 8-20, and my center shot 60% in HS, and he went 5-14, if you hadn't keep those two under 50% it would have been my victory.

I move to 6-2 PR 44 I face Clemson next they are 5-3 84 PR. MY team is moving right along... Here I come NTT, just have to get by Jackson(7-1 6PR) and Clearwater(7-1 24PR)
