Frances Riney conf 12
Ended up going for too many studs. Couldn't find any sleepers that I liked or someone else isn't already on. Oh well, if I don't win any ties I can at least get some good use out of the NA spots.

WTF, 3 of my maxes in the top 10. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dahlem(Mr. #1) is bad, he's in conf only reason why I maxed him. Riney is nowhere near the skill as Leffler, yet he is ranked higher. Ah well, the joys of recruiting.

Noah Allgeier is ranked 49th. I will take that on a guy with his att's and stats with EXC scouting.
Not a player from Conf 31 is on the top 75. I will take that, as my other 3 maxes are all in conf.
And my team won. A good night!

3 of 4 in the top 75. Expected one-maybe two of them, kind of surprised about Bogard.
No worries since I'll win at least two ties:)
Is it my imagination or does League 4 seem to be getting better with recruiting?

I've definitely noticed that over the seasons, these phenomenal stats with not-so-hot ratings guys seem to consistently be higher on the list than EXC scouts with nice ratings. We all expect everyone else to go after the obvious studs, while we shoot for those potential studs, where you have to look past their initial ratings. The only guy I recruited that has poor ratings with studly stats is number 34 on the list, ahead of lots of other guys averaging over 20 PPG with E or G+ shooting with G defense too, AND this #34 guy turns the ball over more easily than Chris Webber in an NCAA game.
So I'm generally happy, 3 guys not on the list. I think for next season's recruiting I'll just study where the well scouted, goot ratings, good stats guys aren't being heavily recruited and hope to win those 3/3 ties KNOWING that if I even do get the guy that he'll be good.

Only 1 on the list. Terry Goodwin from 8. Not bad and not unexpected since he's in conf.
I feel very good about this season, in terms of recruiting. 3 maxes not on the list and almost all of my "sleepers" aren't on the list, either.
Couple that with the fact that my team is playing some decent ball and I can't complain.

This was my 4th time recruiting (twice in lg 12, once in lg5, and now this), and really, you learn quickly. I screwed my lg12 team by just going for studs the first time around, and only landing one, and getting a walkon.
When I recruited for lg 5, I had 2 guys I was on all by myself. They had horrible attributes, but alright stats. One of the players, ended up being a +4, and will be starting for me...
With my 3 guys maxed not in the top 75 all being in conference, Im hoping this recruiting class goes just as well. Im getting a better eye for recruits.

My question is-is it guesswork or something I don't see?
Just got my recruits in League 6. One guy I was alone on 6-10, avg. 15+ points, 7+ rebounds, 1+ asts, almost 1 steal and half a turnover a game. His attributes were average and the scout was either poor or fair. With these stats, plus good intelligence I though he may be a plus 4. He came in at plus 1. Poor shooting, poor hands, exc intelligence and good athlete.
So what is it that I am not picking up?

Real quick...the E int negated his poor hands and lowered the TO's. PPG, as I'm sure you know (especially now), are impossible to decipher. The G ath helps his F reb. and also his F def. Because of his athleticism, I'd guess he was able to score many of those 15 PPG on easy putbacks.
I'm surprised by the P shooting as I've never seen someone score so much with that, but I'd guess he's close to being an F shooter. I think he'll still be a solid contributer because of his height, int and ath.

I have picked that up to (what GDogg said)
I have a player who is a Exc Def, with Exc Ath, but only a fair rebounder, but he pulls down 6 to 7 boards a game, just for the fact his defense causes bad shots, and his athleticism helps.
That is the one thing with the attributes- some help others.
Like when Im looking for a PG, I look for Int first, then I hope to find a guy with good hands, that could turn into an Exc.

This is my first time around recruiting so i wanted to ask a few questions to get a feel for how to proceed after seeing the Most Rec'd:
1. What do you know about a player if he doesn't appear in the Top 75? Could he still be maxed by 3 coaches? 6 coaches? 15 coaches?
2. Generally, if a player is 10th most rec'd after week 1, where will he be by the end of the year? do top 10 guys generally end up in 3-way ties or more like 12-way ties? What if the player is ranked 60th?
3. To what extent does the Top 75 change over the course of the season?
RSF - i used the 'AtAGlance' with the manual update and worked fine
Beezer - unless i am mistaken Collier didn't hit the top 75 - we could have an inteesting run-off (of course i'm so new to this i have no idea what not making the top 75 really means ;-)

After week 3, you have your W3W12's come out, and the top 75 basically dont matter. The W3W12's will tell you A)How many people are within 3 or 12 RPE's with you B)How many people your tied with C)If your trailing, what the highest RPE is on the guy.
If a guy is top 10, Im guessing anywhere froma 6/6 or 7/7 to a 12/12
From what I gather from my other recruiting if they are in the lower half of the top 75, chances are your looking at a 3/3 or 2/2
Not top 75? Probably a 1/1 or a wide open, but you could still get a 2/2.

91 StrikeOne That's good info.
To add to the "StrikeOne" file, if you have no points on or scholarships granted to a recruit at the top of the most highly recruited list, you are unlikely to get him.

hey guys, sorry ive been shady, trying to find a job is tough work. But anyhow, here's my story. I have 2 teams most of you know, one is in the talent lite Lg 7 I'm in Conf 15. I ended up 17-7 and lost in the finals of the PTT. I also swept the Major awards, the same player got Player and Frosh of the year. This year looks promising. Needless to say I have a great team, I lost two starters who were only starting cause they were seniors and overachieving all their careers but I had 2 Sophomores waiting to jump in. I'm also in lg 4, Conf 10. I got points on guys just in time to get the bonus 15. I got one of my maxes from last year, i was looking for height and i got it OOC in Jackson Nix. I have a great starting 5 but lack depth, all of my Starters are UnderClassmen except my PG who gets 4.5 Ast and 11pts a game, so I'm looking for PG's or some more height, i think with the good shooters i have, passing may be a downfall this year. I think I'm a class or maybe 2 from having an awesome team. Here is who im after
Stanton 4 Head 7 Massey 10 Vertrees 10 then one guy getting 9 Cummings 10

Wow! I just noticed my first attribute change. A 6-10 Jr with Poor Shooting skills is now Fair. Sweet! I have only been practicing "Mid-Range Shooting" this season for about 3 weeks (I did strictly defense last year). While I doubt the overall shooting skills will be that different, it is nice to see a +5 player on my team.
Also, I may have been too quick to judge my -1 walk-on Guard. My stud Jr SG got hurt so I decided to see what the walk-on could do. In two games, he went 17 for 34. Not too shabby.

I have too many teams and I'm getting rid of Houston in League 18. League 18 is not what everyone has made it out to be, so I will hold onto my teams in Leagues 4 and 6.
Houston's in good shape. It has what I call the Fab 3-right now at SG, SF and PF. It has some versatility and I have leads on some adequate players for next year. It is also signed up for the Bran Muffin tournament.
Anyone want it? Thought I would post here before I posted on the simsports message boards.

Did you guys have your teams play each other? I had Reading square off with Gainesville. Reading beat the crap out of Gainesville. The Rabid Chipmunks shot over 60% from the field. I think the DoggyDoggs might be way overrated.

Yeah, got weird results. Youngstown(lg 1) faced Providence(lg 4) expected it to be close with Providence winning by 7-10 points, well Youngstown ended up winning by 2. Did a rematch on Wednesday with a similar score but Providence won by 3. Also scrimmaged Youngstown vs Pensacola(lg 2) thought Youngstown would beat them soundly, of course I was wrong and Pensacola won. Not exactly sure how to process these results.

Balls (Post 99)- Have you tried a whole season using my strategy? This past season was my 3rd using it, and also the most successful. I ended up with 5 0/0 leads, plus 2 max ties. I ended up not using priority points, and I got a +13 class. I was very happy, and would recommend that recruiting strategy to everyone.

Hot damn! I WON A TIE! I am now 1 for 8 on Max ties.
Using the "Polack System", I was able to grab a top ranked class. 2 were hometown maxes (0/0s) and third was a late hometown player, one I wouldn't have gotten if not for this system.
On the Clemson Rodans in Conf 23 (where I finally won a max tie), I got a pretty decent class (1 Hometown Stud, a good hands PG, and a walkon [who actually looks decent]). I think I did too much OOC recruiting with this class, but it was fun finding the "diamonds in the rough".

I just finished my first season using the Polack System with great results. I got a +12 class and ranked 6th in one publication. I'm very happy using that system. At one point I had 4 max ties, but then I dropped off one guy to pursue two others. I ended up getting one of my max ties(4/4) and those two other guys. One guy that I got was a wlkon though. I gave him 70 RPE but did not have any scholarships to offer and he still chose my school. I'll be sure not to get caught without any scholarships again. I like the system. I think it keeps your chances of landing walkons very low. And like RSF said it's fun finding the "diamonds in the rough".

pollack's "system" is what most coaches use, with the occasional exception of maybe maxing just 3 instead of four.
I've done that since my first season (7 seasons ago), and over my eight teams, i've brought in 13 consecuative class of +9 or better.
