Apparently it is not working properly as no one was claimed on waivers and I had HAD a claim in.
Are we going to have to undo all transactions and redo them or what?

Ref, I assume you made a waiver request when you should have made a free agent claim?
Sorry, I know it is confusing, but the weekly claim process is the free agent claims. When a player is released by a team he then goes to the waiver wire for two days until he clears waivers or a claim is placed.

What?
I made a claim. Last year waivers ran at Noon and then at 12:01 we could start getting free agents? I've never heard of a first come first serve free agent claiming w/o a waiver wire. I put in claims thinking that I'd get one of them. Only to find out that people were getting first come first serves. I am completely dumbfounded.

Why do you think it was first come first serve? We did have the regular claiming period today at noon as seen here, then were able to pick up free agents after that.

Sorry I assumed that everyone at this level was used to the claim system. Again, I realize that it is screwed up, and apologize for not posting a reminder. But you need to take responsibility for not setting up your claims correctly.
And seriously, who was that irreplaceable anyways?

I played in this league last year. I have played in a WW system for many many years. I did the same thing I id last year. I put in a claim. Now if I was not the highest priority and someone else got the guy, then cool. But I am lost as I read I should have made a FA claim instead of a WW claim. Then told it is screwed up and should have given us a reminder as it was assumed we all knew what was up but then I have to take responsibility for setting them up correctly? WTF?!?!

My guess is that I did it right but didn't get my claim because the priority system (not sure what the order was). What threw me was the players supposedly came from the FA pool instead of the WW but maybe that is semantics?
I think reminders for something that is so screwy would be appropriate no matter how supposedly insignificant or possibly irreplacable anyone may seem. Obviously a lot of players were picked up today.

Post 70 I tried to highlight the things that differentiate the free agent claims vs waiver wire claims. They are not the same thing.
Priority Claiming All free agents (any players not on a current roster) are subject to a weekly claiming process at noon on Wednesday. Following the first 6 weeks of the season, the priorities will reset weekly based on the reverse of W/L percentage. After that, priorities will not be reset. Throughout the season, when a player is claimed (either via "free agent priority claim" or a waiver claim), the claiming team moves to the end of the claiming priority list. Following the final regular season game, priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.
Starting at 1:00pm on Wednesday, all free agents may be picked up by any team "first come, first served" without any change in priority status.
(Immediately following the draft, undrafted players will be subject to a priority claiming process, with priorities equal to the reverse of the first round draft order.)
When a player is dropped from a roster, the player will go on waivers for 48 hours. At the end of the 48 hour period, if any team has placed a claim on the player, the team with the highest claiming priority will receive the player. If no claims are submitted, the player becomes a free agent at that time. If a player is dropped within 48 hours of his game freeze, he may not be claimed until the following week's free agent claiming process.
Starting five minutes prior to the scheduled start of each NFL game, no player in that game may be dropped, regardless of whether the player is an active or bench player.

I took great pains to make sure that the waiver priorities were set correctly.

I don't need your grief.
Dude, anytime someone asks you a question, you don't need thier grief or you go off on them for not taking care of business. I asked you what the difference was between FA claim and a waiver claim. I didn't say you screwed up the priority system. Then you minimize it by saying basically there was no one who was important enough to get anyhow. When you've asked for assistance we have done everything we could to help you (esp. during the draft), yet when we ask a question you basically say forget you and we are too much of a burden for you. Everything may have gone off exactly as it was supposed to. A litte clarification would have answered my question and perhaps helped enlighten others without your defensiveness. I'm sorry that you experienced such great pains to ensure that the priority system was accurate. I'm just trying to figure out how I supposedly made a WW claim instead of a FA claim. How does that cause you so much grief? I was in AA last year and I don't remember a separate system. Of course we were winging it too.

Geez guys, chill.
If Ref put in a claim, he almost certainly did it correctly. I don't think he could have put in a waiver claim, because a player would have had to have been on waivers to do that, and no one should have been on waivers at the time.
From the list posted in [7], Ward, McDonald, and McIntosh were all claimed before Ref's first turn came up. So if he only claimed someone on that short list, then he simply got out-prioritized. If he claimed someone else, then there was a foul up of some sort.

Guru assumes that if there were a mistake made, it was on my end. I do make mistakes, and will happily admit them.
I thought that I was pretty helpful around the forums and with this league specifically, but it turns out I am really a dick.
I apologized to ref multiple times thinking I had answered his question yet he kept coming back. If he'd have asked a question besides "Are we going to have to undo all transactions and redo them or what?" this would be a non-issue.
Hell, I was going to let the issue drop after post 13. I stayed away for a while read Guru's comments then bit through my tongue. At that point, all I could manage was F THIS.
Don't feel like hanging out much right now anyways.

Huh?
Trip - I really don't know where you're coming from, but I made no such assumption. From everything I've seen, I made the assumption that no one made any mistakes here - other than Ref, whose only mistake appears to be that he didn't look in the correct place for the claim results.
I know that being commish can be a thankless job, and from everything I can see, you have done a fine job - and I certainly appreciate it. I also know that Ref has been a commish in many leagues, and has also done a fine job.
It seems to me that both of you jumped to a conclusion that someone or something screwed up, when I don't believe anyone or anything did.
I guess I should have butted out, but I have the utmost respect for both of you, and it seemed that you two were unnecessarily jousting when there was no underlying issue at all. I certainly didn't mean to elevate the tension. And, as far as I can see from the evidence provided, everything was set up properly, and everything ran properly.

Trip, I am not sure what's going on. I've never had an issue with you. I assume you and Doug had never had an issue. Same for whoever else.
Here is what happened...
AOL apparently wasn't cooperating with claims. I had posted as well as emailed Trip. The response was that it wasn't working. Then apparently it was and was told Free Agents would open at Noon.
Then when it appeared people started picking up players who were free agents after Noon, I had thought the WW didn't work and asked if we had to undo the FA pickups to run waivers. At which time I was told I had made a cliam from the wrong list. When I asked for clarifiation, I was told I needed to take responsibility--when I specifically said that if I wasn't the highest priority, then cool, it's a non-issue.
The confusion is that players are coming off AOL's "Free Agent pool" instead of the "waiver Pool" as most of us are used to after the freeze. Then the claims are awarded after Noon but we can't pick up FAs until 1:00. That's the same as before--though I, for one, had forgotten that.
I'm the last person who would be intentionally trying to give a commish "grief" or blaming him instead of "taking responsibility," etc. I'm sorry you took it that way. But I'd think that we'd at least get the benefit of the doubt if possible. I'm writing this off to a lack of communication and hope you will too.
Not let's play some football and have some fun!!!
Gotta look who I'm playing this week. My draft is looking worse and worse and need to figure out what I'm going to do at RB and WR as I have an obvious hole in each already.

Nope, player IS a free agent right now. But, apparently FA players are "locked" for some odd reason. FYI, player had only been dropped OFF the waiver pool recently.
Just in Case... Letter_J has dropped the player that he was going to, but needs this FA move to be processed somehow.

RE: Waivers - I've played in a RIFC league in the AOL system for 3 years now and maybe I can help explain how the Waiver Wire system at least contributed to this misunderstanding and what it has to do "I think" with the way it works at the beginning of the year.
I know I had likeWW position 11 and put in 2 claims and on the 1st claim I selected 11 players and on the 2nd I put 10 players. I got both picks. Initially, I was unable to make any WW claims until afterthe games started . I'd tried to make a claim about a week earlier and it threw me to the free agent screen or something crazy like that. I don't think Waivers were working anyway. AOL's problem or what, schedule, etc.
As far as notification, Trip sent out 2 emails, the first saying their might be a problem and send him your WW request and another last week saying the WW was working and to make your requests via the system. There's no New England's in here, well, maybe a Tampa Bay. ;)
I think Trip is doing a great job of herding footballs down a field considering this bunch of nutheads in here. It was a pretty smooth draft and the season's going. Let's just play some football and have some fun.

A commish needs to check the free agent setting. It should say that free agents can be picked up immediately. The waiver process takes care of the 48 hours waiting period.
I remember getting confused about that setting several years ago.

In the settings under Dropped Player, it asks: When a player is dropped, when does he become available for pickup?
The current setting says 48 hours after player is dropped. Do I need to change this to say immediately? I'm assuming that if the answer is yes, it means a player dropped from a team goes on waivers and is really considered a dropped player once he clears waivers.

I've reset the waiver priority for the week to match the claims order (worst to first). After the first 6 weeks they will not be reset. Well, I believe the claims will have to be reset to match waivers because the system automatically adjust claims from worst to first but leaves waivers the same, but I will make sure to check each week that they are correct.
RIFC rules: http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/read.pl?board=foot&thread=4867&last=1186863906
Priority Claiming All free agents (any players not on a current roster) are subject to a weekly claiming process at noon on Wednesday.
I don't know if the system will stop anyone from dumping a bench player whose game has already started or been played, so it will be up to each manager to make sure they make a proper claim. I will check transactions and if I see an illegal drop, I will have to reverse the transaction. I know we got off to a rocky start, but I think we will have smooth sailing from this point forward.

Just because I'm 7-1 doesn't mean I'm kicking butt. Should lose to Pete this week as he's been kicking butt--just hasn't won as much as me. Not getting any of the top WW claims is a killer. Much rather lose early and win late. If you win early, you better not suffer injuries. Unfortuantely, with my 3rd rounder out for the year and my 1st rounder missing yesterday and who knows how much longer--and both RBs, I might find myself scrapping just to try and make the playoffs.

Not getting any of the top WW claims is a killer.
How so? Which huge WW claims have been made this year that have been killer?
Week 1: None from week one Week 2: Only 5 teams made claims with RB Ward being the big one and I guess WR McDonald was a good signing. Week 3: Again only 5 teams made claims with QB Anderson being an upgrade for some team. (would have been great for mine, lol). Week 4: 7 teams made claims. E. Graham was the only big one.
Really, I don't see the huge claims this year. I have seem some good FA and waiver wire pick-ups but to come across as sour grapes when you are in first place?

Sour grapes? When you don't have a real RB and you need WR depth, it could be huge to that team.
Please don't miscontrue a simple statement of being unable to get the hot WWs because of being low on priority as sour grapes or feeling slighted in the least. Injuries are a part of the game and the WW priority is set up to help the teams that need it most first. What could be done different in a non-keeper league? The set-up is pretty standard. I'm sorry you think I was having sour grapes but that was in no way my intention.

I should have put a smiley, Ref, but still only 3 or 4 good claims made so you have to admit that it isn't really all that killer.
I forgot to mention that I need a QB upgrade. I will look around at teams that have a solid back-up, but am open to offers.

Well, I'm starting Tatum Bell and Ryan Grant? or whatever his name is from Green Bay at RB this week.
I have 3 solid QBs and willing to part with one of them. I have offers on my desk right now that I'm looking at. Gotta look into them more.

Just a heads up for one and all (but especially the commish and the co-commish) as this has been posted by Guru in the RIFC regular season thread:
Reminder: this is the last week that claim priorities reset. Once they reset on Tuesday, they will simply carry forward for the rest of the regular season without any resets. Successful claims (F/A or waiver) will move you to the end of the line, and the only way you will move up the priority list is when the claims of other teams are processed.

Thanks for the reminder. I will reset them tomorrow for the final time. I will have to ask Guru, but one set (claims I think) resets itself each week while waivers doesn't, so I wonder if this means instead of changing waivers every week to match claims, I now have to go in and adjust claims each week to match waivers.

Re: 62 and 63-Are you certain that both free agent and waiver claims move a team to the end of the line? It would make more sense if only a waiver claim would do this as was the case with RIBC AAA on Yahoo.

This is the order it has set for claims and how I reset the waiver wire each week:
Oaktown Raiders TB Hubble's Your Future RIFC AAA Champ deepsnapper passes underhanded Sunday Trippers New York Titans PeterN The Dougs of War Texas Taxes Da Bomb Squad Stl Cards Can't Beat The Refs 2007 ShortBus Stalwarts
This will be the last week I reset the waiver wire. I need to find out if I am supposed to adjust the claims each week to reflect the current waiver wire. If not, then the system seems to reset claims from worst to first each week.

WOW! Starting the wrong QB smarts. Losing two games takes me from first place to really 5th, even though I'm techncally tied for 2nd. Even if Garrard doesn't get hurt and does anything, I split. I had Pennington in there until I read that he was on a short leash. Man I wish I hadn't read that.

I'm not really sure who Azzhole is, but we have some posting etiquette in this forum and I suggest you follow it. Your name is also very borderline.
The rules say that claims and waivers do not reset after week six. They were reset one last time. Weekly claims are not the same as waivers so I see no need to reset them. If you make a claim you go to the back of the pack and if you use your waiver priority to grab somebody recently dropped you go to the back of the pack.

With the last week of the regular season upon us, I went back and read this thread:
http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/read.pl?board=foot&thread=4867&last=1186863906, more particularly post 70 and noted the following:
Playoffs 8 teams Top 6 W/L records are seeded 1-6 Top remaining total points are seeded 7-8 Teams with equivalent W/L records are seeded based on head-to-head first, then total points Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)
One has to love the competition of these leagues; a review of our league standings seems to indicate that only the top 3 teams are locked into the playoffs. Good luck to those on the bubble...

per Guru from the rifc thread:
This would be a good time to review the rules for roster adjustments during the playoffs: Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.
Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.
Team which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.
Also, claiming/waiver priorities will be reset one last time. Following the final regular season game, priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.

The top 6 get in on record and the next two on points. I haven't checked the tiebreaks, but if AOL is right and Cards won the three-way tiebreak for the 6th spot, then it looks like pete gets the 7th spot and ds would get the 8th spot. I am not sure where the 3-way tiebreak rules are but I do remember Guru posting them last year.

Since there is a game Thursday and I have commish prviledge left over from last year, I decided to go ahead and set the playoff and consolation brackets.
I left it set to manual so each week through the playoffs we will have to set the matchups, but I wasn't 100% sure that it was a straight bracket and since the consolation bracket will need a tweak after the first round anyway I just left it to manaul set up for both.
Please check to see that you agree with the matchups. It was based on what Guru did for RIFC.

I'm glad you set it up because I have been having a heck of a time trying to get into the site all day. This is for sure the last season I ever join a league that uses the AOL site. I'd rather have to manually track rosters and compute points than go through this interface again.
Congrats to all the teams who made the play-offs. I'd be lying if I said it was a fun season for me. My team sucked and I was a horrible manager. I think this is the last season of RIFC football for me (outside of our keeper league which is at fanball.)

I had some very tough losses this year. But several of them could have been avoided if I just started my optimal lineup. I can't seem to pick the right QB. At least the RB situation is becoming a little clearer. After my injury disasters early on and other top picks not performing, my team is primed to do well in the playoffs. Then I looked at the other teams and there are so many others in the same boat. As Da Bomb said, Pete could win it all and he only got in because of points. I truly believe that it's anyone's title to win.

Looking at the scoring...Doug's of War didn't start his guys, but Titans started both of his illegal pickups. Titans is in the consolation bracket and will still win even without those two players. But the moves still need to be reversed.

Going to be some nailbiters tonight.
In the 1 vs 8 game where #8 DS is like 38.5 behind Shortbus but he has Brees, White and Boley left. Certainly more than capable of making up those points.
2 vs. 7 ... #2 Da Bomb has beaten Peter N
3 vs 6... #6 Cards has upset #3 Dougs of War by a big margin
4 vs 5...I am up by like 25.5 over #5 Texas Taxes. He has DL Will Smith going so it would take a memorable game from him to eclipse me.

From a 2006 rifc thread The Fanball system will not be able to administer the add/drop limitations, so you are all cautioned to remember the rules. If any violations are noted, please report them and I'll reverse them.
I dropped the illegally added players from the teams but can't find a way right now to add the other players back since they are on waivers and they don't show up with the add/drop function.
Be advised that the following players are NOT available to be added even though they are IDP.
LB J. Durant DB M. Williams
They should not be available as the Titans could not drop them. The other players dropped are ineligble to be added anyway. If nothing else, I will add them all back after they clear waivers.

I should clarify that the other two IDP
LB S. Cooper LB P. Lenon
ARE available to be claimed off waivers this week, but only by playoff teams.

I poked around and found a way to restrict non-playoff teams from dropping players by placing all of the players on those teams on the "can't cut" list.
Since playoff teams can still drop QB, RB, WR, D (just can't pick any up per post 95) I didn't restrict any players on playoff teams.

I submitted a help ticket to aol about how to add the players back in from waivers so maybe I'll have an answer before waivers run on Wed, but since the 2 players that could be added during the process are back on waivers there shouldn't be any problems anyway, hopefully.

For the commish to add a player on wavers, temporarily turn off wavers by going to Commissioner->Rules Setup->Wavers.
Change the answer to the question "Does your league use a waver wire system" to "no". After moving the players change it back to "yes" to turn them back on.

Congrats to ds.
When I was looking at the potential playoff seedings in week 12, I said to myself, ds is a dangerous team...he has many explosive players. While it is true that he was an eight seed and the Bus was a one seed, when I looked at each roster, I said to myself, well, that would not really be an upset...Adrian Peterson, who carried me to many a win, was the difference; 0.3 from a running back did me in.
Sure enough, I score a very respectable 162 even with the Peterson performance (for lack of a better (polite) word) and lose...oh well, I achieved my first goal and that was to lock up an invite to the RIFC. My fantasy season is now over; this is the ONLY league that I play in. Good luck to the four left standing.
Thanks to those that commished. Thank you as well to all my fellow competitors for providing fun/grief/stress every week for 14 weeks.

RE: 124 mjd - I thought about doing that but figured I would then lose the players 'legally' on waivers. If I turn waivers off and then back on will the others still be on waivers? thanks

The reply I received from AOL said:
Thank you for contacting AOL Fantasy Customer Service. You will have to turn off waivers, this will clear off all players on waivers. Please let us know if you have other questions.
So they obviously missed the part where I said I was afraid to mess with waivers as I didn't want to lose the players that were 'legally' on waivers.

Here's the latest response and confirms what I was thinking.
Thank you for contacting AOL Fantasy Customer Service. There isn't an option to only clear certain players from waivers. To get those players back on the proper team, you either need to clear all waiver players or wait until they clear waivers and then add them back to the appropriate team.

I knew after the draft that this was one competitive league. I meant it when I said anyone from the top 8 could win this thing. You had better bring it each and every week if you want to even have a chance to win.

127-I reversed an illegal transaction in last year's playoffs, but it was after Wednesday and they were the only players on wavers at that time. I guess that's why it wasn't a problem.
I'm impressed that you actually got a reply from AOL. I've sent them several questions in the past and have never received an answer. I just figured that I was getting what I paid for....nothing.

I made the transactions based on post #96 by St. Louis Cards indicating that it is within the rules to add/drop IDPs.
per Guru from the rifc thread: to review the rules for roster adjustments during the playoffs: Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs.

The confusion is probably in this part:
Team which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.
There are two brackets set up, the Championship bracket and the consolation bracket. Your team fell just short of the championship bracket so therefore you weren't supposed to make any transactions the rest of the way.
It didn't affect the outcome either way.

Cards, based on the rules, it seems to me that only teams still alive for the championship can make add/drops. Those other illegal moves still need to be reversed at some point in case one of the top 4 teams want them. The other 10 teams can not make any moves at all as I understand the rules.

What other illegal moves? Something more than I spelled out above in the various posts?
I've also reposted your question in the rifc thread hoping guru will respond. My take at this point would be that all championship teams are still 'active' at this point since they are still playing for 5-8th spot. Hopefully guru will clarify this soon.

Cards, I don't think you do play for 5th to 8th do you? At least they aren't covered in the brackets. But even if they were, I read the statement to be still alive for the championship and since this isn't a keeper league, I think only the teams alive should be able to. Not that I have anyone I am looking at to this point and didn't bother last week either.

I hadn't realized that once you lose you are done, but given that then I say you are right, once a championship bracket team loses they can't make any moves and there would be no reason for them to do so anyway.

Watching this Bears game to see if Gould can get me 12 points s wearing on me. Good news is that Gould was primed to get it on the last drive but the Bears decided to go for it instead and gave it away. Still need a 40 yd FG to win. 3.38 behind now. Go Gould! One time baby.
Cards is currently 17.66 behind right now with Berrian, Vikings D and EJ Henderson left.

Last week Phillips had only one stat. It was a pick 6. No tackles or anything else. Of course that won him the game. As long as Phillips doesn't score well and LT plays like he has been and is healthy, DS could be in trouble. But again, it could be fate.

AOL is screwy like that. I continued to lose points overnight last week. I think for a total of about 5 or 6 points. I knew I was going to lose 2 or 3 points as Barnett's was higher than what CBS had and CBS is almost always right in live scoring. No idea where the other points went. Point is that AOL might not have the correct score until tomorrow (or some arbitrary time before then) if in fact the score isn't correct at this point.
