Constitution

I Site / Stat Source / League Fees

All game, roster and scoring rules will be governed by ESPN. There is no fee for using ESPN.

II Draft
The Supplemental Draft consists of a slow draft and held on the Draftime.com website. Time limits will be three hours for individual picks and 8 hours cumulative clock. You may draft until your picks run out or you have reached twelve (12) players. The clock will be stopped from 11:00 p.m. – 9 a.m. ET but picks may be made during that time. If you time out, you will be skipped and may select at any time. If you have been skipped and have not made up that pick and it becomes your turn again, you will be skipped for that pick as well. If you leave a Q and that person is available to post your pick, you will not be charged any time on your cumulative clock.

The draft order will be reverse of last year's regular season finish and it will NOT snake. Only players currently in the NBA database are eligible to be drafted. Waivers Priority will begin in the same order as the basic draft order (lottery excluded). Please note: The bottom 14 teams will be in the lottery similar to the actual NBA draft. Top three picks for next year will be selected via lottery. 4th-14th picks will be selected based on inverse order of standings.

III League Settings:
Draft Type: Offline Draft and E-mail draft
Max Teams: 20
Scoring Type: Rotisserie
Max Moves: No maximum
Max Trades: No maximum
Trade Review: League Votes (7 needed to veto)
Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules
Max Games Played: 720 (enforced by position)
Roster Positions: G, G, F, F, C, Util, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, BN
Stat Categories: FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, OREB, REB, AST, ST, BLK

IV Minimum Games Played / Penalties
A team must accumulate a minimum of 656 GP (82 GP/pos) over the course of a season. For each 8 games of shortfall (1 GP/pos), a team is assigned one demerit. Demerits will be integer values only. Thus, a team with 1-8 games of shortfall will receive one demerit, 9-16 will receive 2 demerits, etc.

If a team finishes in the money for prize pool purposes (ranked 1-6), then demerits will be ignored.

For lottery teams, the following penalties will be applied to every pick in the next year's supplement draft:

If a team accumulates more than 10 demerits, then it will be removed from the lottery and assigned the 14th pick in all rounds (i.e., behind all lottery teams, but ahead of any prize pool teams.)

For teams with less than 10 demerits, that team is pushed forward one place in the supplemental draft rankings for each demerit. For example, if a team finishes in last place (20th) and has 5 demerits, then that team will be treated in the draft rankings as though it finished in 15th place (and the teams actually finishing in places 16-20 will each move down one place.)

If more than one lottery team has a demerit, then the lottery rankings will be successively applied starting with the worst finisher and then moving up to the next worst finisher, etc.

Note: While the maximum number of games is measured on a GP/pos (enforced by the ESPN site), the minimum number of games is NOT. For minimum games, all measurements are based on total games played without regard for position.

V Trades
All trades during the season must be submitted via the website's offer trade feature to the league for review. If there is a draft pick it needs to be posted in our thread at rotoguru.com and needs to be confirmed by both parties. You might want to rationalize your trade as it takes just 7 members to reject the trade. You have one day to reject it so please check the site at LEAST once per day (many will have the email feature that emails all accepted trades). Remember with a Keeper league there may be draft picks involved so take the time to check those before rejecting it. Please only reject a trade based on the trade and not the teams involved. A trade by its very nature should help both teams either now, the future or both. All off-season/preseason trades will be governed by a commish.

VI Keepers
Returning owners will have a deadline to declare what players from their team they wish to keep. Each owner may keep up to 6.

You may keep less than six. You may trade keepers after you have declared, but you may not go over six until all 20 teams have officially declared at the Keeper deadline. At that point you may go up to 12 players.

If you keep less than six, the only way you can add a sixth keeper is via trade. You may not drop a player until after the draft is complete.

If you do not name your Keepers by the deadline, the commish(s) will choose those for you and they will be final. If you post your Keepers after the deadline but before the commish posts, your Keepers will be honored. Typically the commish(s) will start figuring out uncommitted Keepers as soon as the deadline has passed.

All un-kept players will go into the draft. A player MUST be in the NBA database in order to be kept.

The only off-season transactions that will be allowed are trades. No free agents may be picked up after the end of the season. Trades of a player for a draft pick are allowed.

VII Prizes

A fine plaque will be engraved and shipped to the winner courtesy of the previous year's winner. The trophy will be yours to proudly display with your other cherished mementos for 1 year. It will be the winner's responsibility to engrave it and ship it to the winner. There will be an added nominal fee to help cover expenses related to the engraving and shipping of the plaque.

A separate cash prize pool has also been established. It is strictly voluntary. Only those who participate will be eligible for this prize. $15 USD entry must be paid by the season opener. The exact method of prize distribution will vary from year to year depending on participation. We focus payouts so it will NOT be winner take all. Six owners will have a chance to win something. Prize pool funds are due by Opening Night.

Subject to change, 2019-2020 Payout has six managers paid:
1st $100
2nd $60
3rd $35
4th $25
5th $20
6th $15
Total Payouts is 19 X $15 = $ 285 ($30 to trophy fund and for Draftime costs)

Ineligible for prize pool:
PD

If any of the non-participants qualify, the prizes will be reallocated by the commissioners. Managers will move up payout position(s) and any remaining funds will go into the trophy fund.

VIII Owners

As commissioners, we reserve the right NOT to extend an invitation to or remove any owner for any reason. Primary reason for being excluded would be abusive behavior (beyond friendly trash talk, harassment), purposeful rules violations (i.e. colluding on a trade), inactivity (i.e. leaving injured players in as starters repeatedly), unresponsive to other owners or commish(s), missing deadlines (i.e. keepers, draft picks, etc.). If an owner is NOT invited back next year. A new owner will be recruited to take over the vacated team in its exact state.

Need last year's owners to let me know if they are returning. Also, our three sophomore owners (Florian, Fosten and BB the Ball) need to let us know if they will be playing for cash during this roll call. If you are reading this, and know another owner, please let him know to check in.

Meanwhile, take a look at pick trades & payouts above for accuracy. We didn't approve any rule changes, right?

Last year ESPN did not have games played by position unless you used the phone app. Baseball started that way, but they fixed it early in the season. I am guessing basketball will be fixed this year on ESPN as well.

In any case, if you would like to bring this to a vote, please work with GO and do so. We'll need to decide very soon however.

Hey all...

I'll admit that my focus on fantasy hoops has dwindled quite a bit in the past few seasons. I'm happy to play again, but want to respect the activity levels that are expected in a competitive league such as this. If anyone knows of another manager that is interested in joining, they are welcome to take my spot. If not, I'll be happy to give it another go.

I know this is wishy washy, but I don't want to leave the league in a bind if there's no one out there to take my spot, but figure someone out there might know a capable manager that's interested in joining, and I'd happy to step aside.

Let me know!

I will run the draft lottery on Saturday. The lottery used to assigned the top three picks in round 1.

As a review, teams finishing 7th through 20th are in the lottery. Odds of being selected for each lottery pick are as follows:

Rank Odds
7 0.5%
8 0.7%
9 1.0%
10 1.3%
11 1.8%
12 2.4%
13 3.2%
14 4.4%
15 5.9%
16 8.1%
17 10.9%
18 14.8%
19 20.0%
20 25.0%

Since we had a couple of ties list year, odds will be averaged for the tied teams. So, for example, teams 14 & 15 were tied, and they will each have selection odds of 5.15%, rather than 4.4% and 5.9%.

State of the League Address

So we've got all 20 back... any if anyone knows someone active who wants to join, Jaydog willing to give up his slot.

A couple votes on the agenda... keepers, trade deadline, hosting site. Last year tweaking keepers was thrown around a bit, so look at last years thread if you want some keeper discussion . Keepers we can discuss here first for a bit and wouldn't go into effect until this time next year. So we can vote later. These two need to get squared away now.

VOTE
1. Yahoo or ESPN
2. Trade Deadline YES/NO --- approximately 1 month before season ends

Don't know if ESPN has corrected the deficiencies from last season or not. Baseball did see some improvements over the course of the current season.

I have not played on Yahoo for any sport in some time.

So, my votes are:
1) abstain
2) Yes

If we go to Yahoo, and we use same-day transactions, how does that work? Is there a point at which add/drop transactions are simply locked out (as opposed to applying them to the next day)?

<49> It seems that ESPN has not yet implemented GPs by position yet on their PC browser web page. It worked on the phone app though.

I checked, and Yahoo can support up to 20 teams. Pretty sure there is no lockout on picking up players, just goes to tomorrow once the first game starts (or just a few minutes before). So, its basically the same as ESPN.

They added GP to ESPN baseball website, so that should be ok by now. Or at some point soon.

Regarding same day... my experience with Yahoo same day is that you cant drop a player actively in your lineup that night until they turn the page to the next day. So you start them... game starts... frozen until morning.

Good things are that you can add a player in a late game while other games already happened... unlike how ESPN turns the page once the first game starts.

Negatives are that there is that small space when some guys are frozen for the night. But i think this is less an issue in hoops without everyone playing every night. I can usually find someone to drop if i want to make a move in the middle of the games.

I have not logged into my Yahoo profile for many years, but just did and remembered that we started this league at Yahoo in 2002 before moving to ESPN several years later. Not sure what improvements were made since then, but at the time we moved primarily because it lacked several tools that ESPN had. If they can fix the GP issue that we had last year, then I'd prefer to stay.

I just joined at drafttime...

With Klay Thompson's injury status, and the rest of my team pretty void of keeper value, I'm likely due for a bit of a rebuild. If anyone has any interest in Lamarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol, or Bradley Beal let me know. I'd be interest in acquiring younger players, with a bit more long term value.

Open to all options...

On The Trade Block
I've had a couple managers reach out to me asking about my #1 pick. As a rebuilding team, I fully intend on keeping the pick unless I'm blown away. If anyone is serious about acquiring it, reach out to me and I'll give you an idea what it will cost. More than likely any deal involving it would be done after keepers are announced.

Aside from that, I have a couple high-upside young guys that I'll be looking to deal before keepers. If anyone has any interest in the players listed below, I'm currently planning to keep one of them as my last keeper. The others are available for draft picks or part of a package.

Josh Jackson, F, Grizzlies
Lonzo Ball, G, Pelicans
Mikal Bridges, F, Suns
Dejounte Murray, G, Spurs
Michael Porter Jr, F, Nuggets

Just a reminder, here is our schedule:

MON 30 SEP - Team Owners locked
FRI 11 OCT 11:59 PM Eastern - Keeper Deadline
SUN 13 OCT - Draft Turned On
MON 14 OCT 11:59 PM Eastern - Draft Clock on
TUE 22 OCT - Season Starts

We didn't get a rep for Jaydog, so he is returning. I am a little concerned about Twolves. He seems to have ghosted both here and at RIHC. He is the only one not enrolled in Draft Time now in all five leagues I am responsible for this season. If he doesn't show up by keeper deadline, we'll dissolve his team.

Anyway, I am starting our official Keeper thread today. I encourage you to not wait until the 11 OCT deadline to post something. You can post an update all the way until the deadline. If you don't post, I will assume you have zero keepers and want to redraft your entire team. I am not your mother, so don't expect any reminders, and I am totally uninterested in excuses.

You know the deal. I'll do my part, make sure you do yours.

The prodigal son, Twolves has returned.

On a personal note, I am deliberating my final three keepers and have four candidates. So if any of these interest you for a pick upgrade or in some larger trade, let me know:

Harrison Barnes, F, SAC
JJ Redick, SG, PHO
Dwight Powell, C, DAL
Taj Gibson, PF, NY

My man-crush on Miles Bridges makes him my most likely 6th Keeper, leaving these guys as most-likely-to-go, despite loving them all:

Evan Fournier, G, ORL - Younger Vet Scorer (%s, 3s, steals)
Derrick White, G, SAS - Dynamic Duo with Murray in San Antonio
Fred VanVleet, G, TOR - Fresh off studly playoff performance

John Wall (PG/WAS) - Possibly out the entire 2019-20 season. This former No. 1 overall pick was a top-20 projected player at the beginning of last season. This is the first year of his supermax contract, so you know the Wizards are planning on having him back.

Now available in trade.

Do we have IL spots? Do we want those? They get used in NBA a lot nowadays. If we didn't have them was it to keep the free agent pool fuller?

And do we want it generically G, F, C and not PG, SG, SF etc? Was that an ESPN requirement or the way we wanted it?

Happy to hear that we might be making the switch to Yahoo! I think it will be for the best. We can always revisit ESPN or other platforms in the future, if someone steps up.

I would be in favor of adding IL spots. They seem to be used frequently in all my other leagues, besides RIHC. I never like being punished twice for getting someone hurt, by making your flexibility more limited.

I'd also be in favor of switching to the traditional positions, instead of just G, F and C. I don't have a great reason for this, besides it makes it more like a real GM experience.

For what it's worth, I wasn't around when all these settings were put in place, so I'm not sure if there are good reasons to keep it the same.

When this league was created, we went with the generic G, F, C, Util spots because with a 20 team league we wanted to give better flexibility. We didn't want to limit teams to just the traditional positions since it might be hard to always have multiple players at each position with a small bench. This league was also set up as H2H the first year, but then switched to Roto in year 2 after a vote. It was hard for a few teams like mine to adjust given that we had built our teams to win multiple categories each week and dominating 5 of 9 categories got you a win. It's harder to punt categories in Roto though so need a more balanced approach.

The IL/IR spot was originally in our league, but then when the NBA took that designation away several years ago we got rid of it too. Have they brought it back officially, or would we need to manage it as an extra bench slot like we did in RIHC leagues?

Depth of thr league is a pretty good reason to have the more generic positons... i can see leaving that unless anyone had major issue.

IL is a real slot players can be moved in and out of when declared injured by Yahoo. In G20 MLB we have a couple slots but its only for keepers. I think that might be a good starting point. Totally open to IL slots for all players... or like keepers plus 1st round pick as that is a still a key part of your team unlike MLB.

I think our shorter rosters don't lend well toward the position breakdown further than it is.

Not in favor of IL if it isn't closely monitored or automated to kick out players that aren't really hurt or hurt any more. Unless your roster is hit hard, the end of our rosters typically are flexible enough to cycle through to others.

I think should leave keepers at 6 for this year. AS far as IL goes, we have survived without it up till now. I think leave it as is especially if no one wants to monitor it. I have kept an injured player (that played one or no games) the whole season at least 2 of the last 3 seasons and still got max games in.

I’m with Meat; I don’t really see the rationale behind no IL slots. Losing Durant becomes a double whammy for me with not having him and also having to hold him on my bench all year, so I’m playing with one less roster spot on top of losing my best player. In order to compete I’m forced to try to trade him. I’m all for promoting trading injured stars to rebuilders, but I think an IL slot still allows this, but also allows me to give it a go this year without dealing him.

We switched to keepers being DL-able in baseball and I think everyone was happy with the change. I’m not sure how to monitor besides honor system + maybe a few checkers who routinely go through rosters?

What's the definition of when/how long someone can use this stash/IL slot? Is missing a game for "load management" valid? How long after being active in games or rosters is someone supposed to be off the IL slot? What is the "punishment" for being "that guy" who abuses the slot or is just lazy?

Just strikes me as a non-manageable mess.

1. No Stash-slot
2. No one, but only keepers if implemented. Can players be marked with a scarlet letter K for easily identifying keepers?
3. 0 slots, or 1.

I’m not calling out Jaydog here, but I reached out to him about a trade minutes after he last posted, and never heard back. It seems his assessment that he couldn’t give it the time was accurate. I would definitely support the addition of any managers who are excited to get involved and have the time needed.

On a more selfish front, I’m offering up Andrew Wiggins for a 1st round pick. I know I would personally consider making that move if someone else offered Wiggins, so that’s how I came to the asking price. It pains me to do this, because he’s only 24 years old still, and I don’t think we’ve seen his prime. But I have enough intriguing talent besides him, so I’m not in the position anymore where I have to count on him becoming a monster. If you like Wiggins longterm more than your last keeper and the player you expect to draft in the 1st round, get in touch with me.

I think VW needs to extend the co-manage invite from Yahoo. Or at least i cant do it from the app. I can do the transfer team entirely... but i think co-manage would be best for now while VW sorts things out and sees what direction he wants to go.

Yes, R$ can handle the Draftime part of it, no issue there. Is VW already in that slot?

I just looked at Yahoo, and yes it seems you are right that we cannot give a 2nd manager, just replace VW. If Vw doesnt give Rick comanager in next 24 hours, we'll just kick VW, and invite rick, then rick can send VW a co-manager invite.

Anyone looking to rebuild, I have Jusuf Nurkic who is available to stash. He should be back around the all-star break after his leg injury at the end of last year. He finished last season 19th on the ESPN player rater, so I'm looking for at least a 2nd round pick which is what I paid for him before the prior draft.

Also could move a few players like Oladipo, Derozan or Rubio for the right deals if it helps my team.

Joe Harris led the NBA in 3pt % last year (2.4 3PM) as well as shooting 50% from the field and 83% from the line if anyone needs another keeper for a modest pick upgrade.

I don't see a way to import ESPN history so we should copy all the history we can from there, league constitution etc.

Next year on Yahoo will be easier with keepers, just check the boxes and assign to rounds. Keeper tools are really good.

Man, I already hate the new guy. LOL.

OK, looking for our rules around the player stash slot (or slots, god help us):

When can players be stashed there? Only if a player has the scarlet letters marking them as IL (or whatever designation Yahoo uses)? So no stashing players there in "anticipation" of getting the designation, only after they've been branded?

What's the clarification for how long they can be stashed there after getting a clean bill of health (removal of branding)?

Is it ok to grab a FA who is on IL and just stash him in my IL slot, so others can't get him? Just asking for a friend.

Is the slot actually designated as "IL", so Yahoo dumps them automatically if no scarlet letters? Isn't that the way it was a long time ago?

Uses the IL roster position:

Eligible designations - Injured (INJ) or Out For Season (OFS).
Ineligible designations - Out (O) or Game Time Decision (GTD).
These statuses are determined by our data provider and are defined as:
O - Projected to miss less than 7 days.
INJ - Projected to miss 7+ days due to injury.
OFS - Projected to miss the rest of the NBA season.
GTD - May or may not play, determined prior to the game's tip-off.

Yes, you could add a player and stash them. Use the slot as you see fit. Its all part of the strategy.

You will probably need it for your own dudes. Once they are no longer injured it won't let you add anyone until you cut someone and put the now healthy player back on your regular roster.

<141> RSF you point out all of the flaws in the system. In my eyes, all of those pale compared to the effect a hobbled stud taking up a slot has.

My view is game it any way you want. I wont be saddled with policing it. If it doesn't happen automatically in Yahoo, it aint happening.

Just in general, for all of you who want to propose rules, don't be generous with my time when you do so, I simply wont cooperate, and if this bothers you, I will gladly step down.

As for replacing a stud with the 261st "best" player...while making one feel good, not sure that's moving the needle all that much, but I can appreciate it.

I have had two inquiries so far, so lets make this clear.

You get exactly six keeper slots, and you get exactly six draft picks. If you have a guy who is IL eligible, that doesn't give you seven keepers, nor does it give you seven draft picks.

Basically the IL designation does nothing for you until the preseason waiver period, right after the draft is over.

The draft has started, no clock. You are not expected to make any picks today, but tomorrow I will be expecting that you will not simply blow off your pick because you had something else to do. Make a queue now!

Please check draft picks and keepers in Draft Time for accuracy. Also check that I have entered your keepers correctly in Yahoo. You can check them under draft results. If you find any mistakes, please let me know ASAP.

Once we have finished the first round, I will impose a four hour limit on picks. There will be a daily clock pause between 10PM and 8AM EDT. All of this is subject to change should we fall far behind schedule.

Good Luck

From the treasurer:

Prize pool dues for the coming season are $15. There is no assessment for a trophy fund again this year, as that continues to be amply funded.

As background for the new managers, we have an optional prize pool. All participating managers contribute $15 at the start of the season, and the pool is distributed at the end to the top six finishers. The actual award amounts are subject to the total amount in the pool, but generally range from about $90-$100 to the winner down to $15 for the #6 team.

New managers do not need to opt into the pool in their first year. But by the second year, they must decide to be in or out. Once you opt in, you must remain in the pool each year to continue in the pool. If you should ever opt out after the first year, then you can never opt back in.

The only manager who has opted out is Perm Dude. Last year's new managers must decide this year whether to be in or out: Florian and BB the Ball.

The two new managers this year have the choice to opt in now or to defer their decision until next year.

Nine managers have funds on account to cover all or part of the dues for 2019:
Bean, Dave R, Peter N., GO, Meatwads, RSF, Skinneej, twolves, WG.
So you guys are already paid up.

Knicksfan has $5 on account, so he only owes $10 this year.

Everyone else owes $15, according to my records. If you think I have missed any funds on account for you, please let me know.

Payments can be sent in either of the following ways:
1. Paypal: please send to davehall@rotoguru2.com. (Recipient will probably appear as Uncommon Cents LLC.) Designate this as “send money to friends and family”, and mark the payment only as "G20 hoops". Do not say "prize" or "pool". Those words are red flags for Paypal.
2. Snail mail: check can be sent to the address listed at the bottom of this page:

Its great that WG confessed that he surrendered his 3rd for Tosh's 5th. Just kinda confused why Tosh didn't point it out earlier when I asked everyone to review the outstanding pick trades. What can I do differently that would make people actually check the list at the start of the season?

Also, I didn't find anything about it in the last year's thread. Can someone point to it for me?

<168> There is a DAILY pause in all the Rotoguru leagues I commish 10PM-8AM EDT. You can continue to select but nobody is on the clock during this pause.

These DAILY pauses are not an issue with Draft Time, rather its how each draft is set up.

Since you are in the league, I'll say that in the PHKL, we have a much more complex tradition that recognizes our international players.

The pause that GO had to do is a hard pause, where nobody can pick.

Sixteen managers have joined the prize pool this year. Perm Dude, Florian, and BB the Ball are out. I did not hear anything from gerren, so I assume he is deferring his decision on whether or not to join until next year.

So, based on a total pool size of $240, the payouts for the top six finishers will range from $90 for the winner to $15 for sixth place.

Everyone been ok with the league setup and how the add/drop and freezes work? any additional questions?

Someone asked about hot players for the day stats - and i don't see that. Although i'm sure thats readily available elsewhere as people track Daily Fantasy for sure. But I do use the "Who's Hot" and "MVP" features under research. Both are nice tools. Whos Hot is one week ranks... MVP is players most commonly owned by 1st place teams.

Also - Record Book is pretty cool. We don't have much built up yet. But as the history grows.... funny things like "most blocks in a single day" will be interesting and fun stat to check out.

Still getting used to the add/drops once a player has played for the day for my team. In ESPN game I could drop a guy once his game had started and pick up a player in his spot for the next day. Found out the hard way with that yday when I had to drop another player that hadn't played in order to grab the guy I wanted.

Don't care for the fact you can't pick up your own waiver guy. Tried to pick up Howard after I dropped him and it wouldn't let me waiver claim him. That's OK, but I believe different than before.

I sort of prefer not being able to claim my own drop. Seems like a way to guard against teams using free agents as a rotation bench.

The waiver thing, its just different. Cause i have found benefit in guys in any game that starts later... and someone is declared out... i can still add someone and get them in there immediately.. i.e. Favors and Okafor.

I have a request for all my league mates. Please post in the forum before you make a trade involving one of your core players. (Or at least reach out to me!) First, it gives everyone a chance to beat the offer, thus making sure the seller got market value. Secondly, it keeps people from getting hard feelings or suspecting anything shady is happening.

I don't want to call out anyone specifically here, but just realize this is a 20-team league, and you can maximize your return if everyone knows what's happening. There are several examples over the years where I would've payed more than what actually happened, but I just wasn't made aware.

Agree with the sentiment, but sometimes deals just materialize to the aggressive managers. The Beal/Aldridge deal actually reminds me a lot of the McCollum for SGA deal from last year. Young with big upside for established vet.

The idea that the SGA for McCollum deal is comparable to the Carter/Herro for LMA/Beal deal is laughable. Florian should’ve known better, especially since the deal involved his buddy who he brought into the league...but people who play with integrity or at the very least, have respect for fellow league members, is becoming a dying breed. I’ll still soldier on but I saw this movie in G20 baseball and it wasn’t enjoyable.

If I were Gerren would I have done this trade? NO WAY, his team finished 7th last year and should not be in a rebuild mode yet.

If I were Florian, would I have waited a year or two before making a blockbuster trade with a guy I sponsored to join the league? Absolutely, in fact, I would have avoided trading with him at all simply for appearances sake. But, for the record, I have played with Florian and Gerren before, and I don't have any reason to suspect anything foul, just a lack of perfect judgement.

That said, the trade wasn't vetoed. If you didn't vote to veto, then you don't have anything to discuss. If you did vote to veto, you should have tried to rally the troops before the trade went through, not try to vendor some sour grapes whine after the fact, there are better ways to get intoxicated.

If you would like to revisit the trade veto rules, put something forward and we can vote on it. Too many people aren't paying attention in a league this big, and fewer veto votes is worth considering. Longer review times might be a worthy discussion as well.

Short of discussing the rules, lets consider this episode over. Good luck to all.

The current ruleset:

No sour grapes or whining here. Just speaking truth to reality. I also didn’t veto the trade because I don’t believe in having to have oversight over managers. I’ve always been on Team ‘Let the Manager do what they feel is in the best interest of their team’ — My faith in that has been tested in recent years, but ultimately you hope each manager is doing their part. I also hope the trade works out for Gerren.

I had significant concerns about making the trade as I felt that by the time my team has a chance to be seriously competitive in 2-3 years Beal will likely have 1-2 good years left whereas I expect Carter and Herro will likely be in their prime and likely will be very good for a number of years. How good they will be is difficult to say, but I expect both of them (especially Carter) to be high level players. I don’t expect to keep Aldridge on my roster past the end of this year as in 2-3 years he will likely not be very good. In fact I would like to trade him. Ultimately I made the trade because Beal is a high level player and I have enough other prospects that I feel I can give 2 of them up.

Unfortunately Gerren’s team is terrible. His only good players were Beal, Aldridge (age 34), and Lopez (age 31). To think his team is going to compete is extremely unrealistic, which is why he was trading for prospects. I’m not sure which other prospects would have been acceptable to the other teams, but since the last two trades in this league prior to this one were DeAndre Jordan for a 3rd round pick and Lopez for Derrick White it seems that people are not really giving up a whole lot for older players.

I didn’t think that my bringing Gerren into this league should have prevented me from trading with him, but perhaps I should have considered that for the sake of appearances. However anyone who has played watched us play in the PHKL knows we both want to win; especially against each other.

I’m a bit F/C heavy and looking to move a keeper quality F/C for a keeper quality G. Nobody on my team is untouchable.

Btw — Thanks, RSF, for demolishing the suspense this season, lol. You’ve built an incredibly dominant team and it’s more than just Freak and The Beard. Well done

Happy Holidays to all and best wishes for 2020!

My two cents on the Florian/Gerren trade. Beal is a top 15 player at age 26. I think he’s got more than 1-2 years left. He should return someone better than Wendell Carter to get moved right now. But that’s just my opinion. I also think Aldridge is more valuable than Herro, but his age makes things more acceptable. Although I personally believe it’s a great value. I’m still suspicious of Herro’s actual long-term keeper value.

The only real issue I had is not being given a chance to beat the offer. I’m fine with managers doing what they think is best for them. But that’s rarely negotiating with one team involving their two best players. I agree with Gerren’s decision to trade the players for upside. I just believe he could’ve gotten more had he opened it up to the league.

Anyway, that trade is long gone. I too am looking to add a couple more vets to round out my depth. I know winning isn’t possible, but I can make up a lot of points and I’m starting to get healthy for the first time. After years of sucking, I’d like to see how high I can finish. Looking for some relatively quick and painless negotiations.

Apparently I value Carter way more than most people. Of course, GarPax will find a way to stagnate his growth while he is in Chicago. Aldridge has always been a giant horse apple to me, but I might be letting my disdain for his whiney-bitch attitude about not being "the man" in PDX negatively influence me. Would have I delt Beal? Maybe, maybe not. He's like Shareef Abdur Rahim, big numbers on shitty teams, which in fantasy doesn't really matter, and is good for fantasy. His injury history is the real issue around him. But, dead horse and all that.

ttucowboy, not playing the humble card, as this team does kick ass, but I've been fortunate to not have been bit by the injury bug. Of course, Giannis, Harden, Beverly are all getting nicks, and nicks eventually add up.

Good luck all in the new year, here in G20 and in life! Just less in G20...

Bogdanovic went 3rd for 6th last year... same age and better ranked last year (#74 overall) than Bledsoe currently is (#85). This bests that by a round. Which was the basis of my offer.

Also Thybulle is lottery ticket throw in who is fantasy gold if he can find more minutes. And he got last time Embiid got hurt and gets again if any F or C were to miss time.

1- Fan of the bull. If he starts next year its huge for me and I think the sixers starting 5 are due for another shake up. If I am wrong the options I can execute with the extra high draft pick can help me maintain.

2- As GO said he has high upside AND I still have 5 with 2 other guys trending towards finishing top 100. Add Thybulle and thats a few options plus an extra meaningful draft pick to use to either move up for a top rookie or grab a keeper.

3 - Used the Warren trade above as a litmus test on fairness - compared rankings, projections and current stats this season and its not a HUGE difference and I am by no means knocking the above trade - but I am getting the (very) slightly better deal based on the draft positioning and Less of a drop in talent based on the rankings - that said I figured if that trade didn't raise any ruckus, this one should be fair.

4 - Ive been hovering between 120-100 points since November. Unfortunately 120 is looking like my ceiling and even that would be somehow navigating the LOG JAM thats 3rd-12th right now with maybe 30% of my games left to play so I don't think dark-horse or Cinderella story is in my reach this season.

Feel free to hit me with your counterpoints so I can experience your perspective also.

Warren wasn’t in my plans for the future and was shopped around. Best deal I could find is the one I made with Meat. That is just one of many reasons why I don’t have any issue with the Bledsoe trade. He’s solid, but aging. Thybulle could turn into something but the market has pretty much set itself as far as trading players for picks go.

I just looked at the career and current season numbers of Bledsoe and Reggie Jackson. Surprised by the outcome:

Careers
RJ: 42.8 FG%, 33.4 3P%, 85.7 FT%, 3.0 Reb, 4.4 Ast, 0.7 Stls, 12.9 Pts
EB: 45.6 FG%, 33.6 3P%, 79.5 FT%, 4.0 Reb, 4.8 Ast, 1.4 Stls, 14.2 Pts

2019/20 Season
RJ: 40.3 FG%, 40.0 3P%, 77.8 FT%, 3.2 Reb, 4.5 Ast, 0.6 Stl, 15.4 Pts
EB: 47.9 FG%, 34.6 3P%, 81.5 FT%, 4.7 Reb, 5.3 Ast, 0.9 Stl, 15.3 Pts

So...I'll gladly move Reggie Bar for a 2/6 … Shoot, I'd even go 2/5 :)

Bledsoe is more name than game, especially with the minutes minimization Milwaukee is living by. My initial reaction was WTF, but his numbers don’t support the overreaction.

Frankly, he’s is worth more like a low first, but sometimes you take what you get. MT isn’t a keeper on anyone’s roster here.

CC not sure what rank you are looking at but right in our Yahoo sort which that we all share... sorted by 2019 Season Total rank (not preseason rank) - he has playing at an 80 something overall rank for the year. And its not suppressed by injury or anything as he has played 43 games.

As stated, Warren went in a similar swap earlier this year... for an even lesser pick swap... IS 4 years younger then Bledsoe (reminder, keeper league)... and is ranked approximately 30 slots better on the season. So were you not against that cause he doesn't have the name brand value that Bledsoe built up back when he was in his prime?

My first reaction is that most people didnt realize how blah his numbers have been in Milwaukee and think its still 2015. He's a complementary player fitting in as the 3rd or 4th guy on a winning team now. I hope Giannis lands him a ring.

Munson Mobsters 2020 Mid-Season Report
Year 2 of the rebuild has been an improvement and I am definitely liking my team. Some of my youth are finally starting to step it up!

2018 Keepers:
- Westbrook, Tobias = Holdovers from Species' Team inherited on 9/26/18.
- Levert = Acquired via trade 10/4/18. Back from injuries.

2019 Keepers:
- Bam = Drafted in the 4th round 10/9/18. BAM BAM!
- Huerter, Bridges = Acquired via trade 10/11/19. Please Hammer Don't Huerter 'Em!

2019 Draft Picks Meeting Expectations:
- 1.06 Culver = Waiting for the rookie to start on the first unit.
- 2.05 Nurkic = Waiting for the big man to return.

2019 Draft Picks Outperforming Expectations
- 5.05 Moritz = Has been good when healthy. Psst... he's healthy again.
- 6.16 Chriss = Ever since the Warriors converted his contract from a two-way, he's been the go-to guy.

2019 Draft Picks Underperforming Expectations
- 5.03 Giles = Sacramento didn't pick up his option for next year, may get a ticket out of town.
- 6.05 Walker IV = An exciting prospect for next season. His hair barely fits in the avatar.

2019 FA Adds:
- Josh Jackson = #4 overall pick in the 2017 draft is back from the G-League and looking to re-establish.

So... as the ASB approaches, I'm thinking about moving Westbrook. Mainly interested in acquiring some stud youths or high draft picks. (yaya, isn't everyone?) If you think we matchup, get ahold of me, and we'll talk it out. Peace.

Hey, you're all winners in my mind.

My thought is that if they resume play, we simply need to call our season what ever the NBA calls their regular season for crowning a champ. What is more subject to bad blood is the prize money I fear.

If it turns out that regular season games wont be played again this season, perhaps we can find a compromise which includes awarding the winners of this season a percentage, and rolling the remaining prize money toward a fatter pot next season.

Thoughts?

Hi. We should definitely freeze transactions today until we know whats going on. If anyone is added/dropped we'll just reverse.

If they pick up the season where we left off in June then we go from there. Continue as if nothing happened.

My best guess is they skip the regular season and just jump into the playoffs after some "preseason" exhibition type games in like May or June. So if that is the case I don't see why the final standings wouldn't stick as they are today.

Considering I have all these games left unplayed, sucks for me but ya know... maybe gotta go with the smoke em if ya got 'em theory cause you just never know when a global pandemic might happen!

playoffs - anyone can get hot, Roto an 8th place team isn't going to catch fire over a 3-4 week span and win everything (although GO might have been close)

Agreed with above, no new transactions until there is a resolution for continuing or ending the regular season. Standings should probably be final if they don't resume, but I would like to finish it out and was on a little run the past couple weeks as I caught up games. Don't think there was any chance to catch the top 2, but I like to compete and hope this season isn't over.

So looks like we will get an 8 game finish to the regular season for 22 NBA teams. I'm assuming Yahoo will count these, but not sure since all teams and players will not be able to compete. Looks like 9 of my players would be able to continue, but some teams may be adversely affected if their stars cannot play. Also, I expect there may be some players that choose to sit out even if their teams are playing.

I was planning to follow whatever Yahoo does. Not a fan of trying to implement any rule set someone might dream up here, along with doing a formal vote and all the rest of what goes along with a better idea.

For every argument to do one thing there will be an argument to not do it. I'll have to play referee, and I simply do not wish to do that for a season that is essentially already decided.

As I asked in <256>, do we want to do something different with the cash payout?

Yeah I'm good with calling the season either way, but sounds like Yahoo will make that decision for us. With the season being roughly 80% complete, I think only 1 team had a reasonable chance of moving into the top 6. Based on games played, I don't think the order would change too much. Although GO would probably make a solid run at the title, I still think he's come up a little short. Meatwads had been on a tear so may have been able to move up a couple more spots.

So I think it comes down to do we award the prize pool as standings are finalized with the shortened season or do we give 6th place money to 7th place as well and then adjust the rest? I'm good with either solution.

Without all teams playing, I'm not sure how you can say its part of the "real" season.

I'm not sure I follow the issue with prize money. If its an issue, I normally keep half, leave $15 for entry/trophy and give rest to Guru. So, at minimum, I'd like for us to do at least the last 2 things still, since no one was going to realistically catch me. Use the other $50 for others, if there are "beefs" with the season wrap up. I'm good with that.

From Yahoo:
The NBA has announced the 22-team season restart plan has been approved. As a result, the Yahoo Fantasy Basketball season has ended, and we will apply the current standings as final.

Congratulations RSF!!

As to the payout, seems nobody cared enough to comment, so payout will be as if a full season was played.

Haven't done the math on minimum GPs (and demerits) but seems to me it should be pro rated, though I am certain that MLB team owners might have an issue with that. I suspect Guru has already done the math on pro-rated, but if I am wrong, I will post in a couple days.

So, I did the math.

30 NBA Teams aggregated 1942 Games Played (GP) during the season. This comes out to 64.733 GP per team.

G20 Minimum GP is 656. Prorated for this shortened season, you get 656 X (64.733/82) = 517 GP

Only Florian (503) and Gerren (474) failed to meet minimum GP. They receive 2 and 6 demerits respectively.

Here are the official standings (note the tie for 8th):

1 RSF - Mr Big Bucks
2 GO Sixers
3 Skinnee J's
3 coldwater coyotes
5 Mighty Meatwads
6 youngroman's Luschen
7 PT's Pleasant Team
8 SANFORDORS
8 Weekend Over
10 Bean's Buckeyes
11 Fred's Team
12 Munson Mobsters
13 Kevin Love Fan Club
14 Florian’s Team
15 ttucowboy
16 Wazaaap Guy
17 KnicksFan
18 BB the Ball
19 Roto Guru20
20 gerren z's Team

Applying the demerits you get:

1 RSF - Mr Big Bucks
2 GO Sixers
3 Skinnee J's
3 coldwater coyotes
5 Mighty Meatwads
6 youngroman's Luschen
7 PT's Pleasant Team
8 SANFORDORS
8 Weekend Over
10 Bean's Buckeyes
11 Fred's Team
12 Munson Mobsters
13 Florian’s Team
14 Kevin Love Fan Club
15 gerren z's Team
16 ttucowboy
17 Wazaaap Guy
18 KnicksFan
19 BB the Ball
20 Roto Guru20

You can get an idea of how this affects the lottery from <35> above.

Thanks Bean, great work. Looks like we're all set to close out this season.

best i can tell...
Trade Summary 2020 Draft

RSF 1st for Florian 4th
GOs 3rd for RSF 6th
Meatwads 5th for ttu 3rd (2019 draft swap)
ttucowboy 6th for ttucowby 3rd owned by Meatwads (Jordan/Wood)
ttucowboy 5th (warren) for meatwards 2nd (reddish)
GO 2nd to r$money 6th (Bledsoe/Tybulle)

Some of these are already in Yahoo cause they allow you trade picks built into the trading mechanism. The Jordan/Wood deal is not for some reason.

<275> Just noticed, there were actually two ties, not just the one I mentioned. There was a tie for 3rd as well as a tie for 8th.

We alternate draft picks and split 3rd + 4th place money for these right?

Yes, prize money is split for ties.

I think we usually have a coin flip to break ties for draft order, but alternating by round after that seems like a reasonable approach.

That Tyler Herro guy is getting some pretty good press right now.
