All set to go.
I printed the Fanball rules page into a PDF file. Commissioners from QLs are encouraged to check this against their leagues. Please report any discrepancies. Most of these items have not been changed since last year, but it's possible that some error has crept in.

This would be a good time to review the rules for roster adjustments during the playoffs:Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.
Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.
Team which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket. Also, claiming/waiver priorities will be reset one last time. Following the final regular season game, priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.

It looks like the first 7 playoff teams are pretty much set. The top 5 have clinched, while Goatlockers has split with the 12-12 teams, and are down in points by enough that it is safe to say that Holt and Greybear are in. S_R is the one team that could still get beat but Goatlockers would need alot of help to do it. 2-0 vs 0-2 and outscore by 30 points.
It also looks like the top 4 seeds are set. As for me, it seems my team either runs hot or cold. I either score 160+ or languish with 110 or less. I was hoping to steal a top 4 but now I will have to hope that I do enough in the last week or in the playoffs to warrant an invite for the free spot.
Any ideas on what you are going to do with the free spot(s), Guru? Top 5 seeds? 5-8 seeds in the final four? Inquiring minds want to know.

Nerf - You must not of scrolled down the standings far enough to see that I am currently the 8th seed since I am 60 points up on SR. If I can get into the playoffs....lookout!

[149] - Depends on many factors, including how the playoffs go in this league and in the QLs, and also on which teams (if any) decide not to return next year.
I can't give you any guidance.

argh. fanball has been down a couple hours now. can't get my claims done. had all the pages open for the players I wanted to pick up. was just trying to figure what order I wanted to do them in when the server went down. nothing earth shattering, but kind of annoying all the same. : /

I was wondering about playoff seeding if there are more than two teams tied in record--I don't see this covered in the RIFC rules. In AA there's a possibility of a 6-team tie for second or even a 4-team tie for 6th. In the case of a 6-team tie, do you just go by points, or do you go head-to-head records against the other 5 teams? If it were to happen we'd have two 6-4 H2H teams, two 5-5 H2H teams, and two 4-6 H2H teams. Would the 6-4 H2H teams get the top two seeds, and the one with a better H2H(then points) would get the top seed?

Anybody know what's up with SR? He's sporting a roster with these players:
Adrian Wilson (IR) Sean Taylor (RIP) Travis Henry (Suspension looming?)
I know that most of this stuff is recent, or still pending... but for a team on the bubble to make the playoffs, I don't see why he'd be giving up yet?

[153] If it's a 2-way tie, go head-to-head first, then total points. If there are more than 2 teams tied, then just use total points.

Yep, that's it. I had some crappy luck this week with weather - Parker, Housh, Moss, and Hasselbeck all were affected by it. But I managed to get at least one win and make the 6th seed. It's a pretty good spot because I wont have to face IAC until the finals, if I make it that far.

Playoff brackets have been set. Claim priorities have also been reset in order of Championship bracket seeding.
Teams not in the Championship bracket may no longer add or drop players.
In the Consolation bracket, the losing team with the most points in the first week will advance. Pairings will be adjusted if necessary to avoid a repeat matchup.

Well, my unanimous weak spot in the rationales, RB, ended up being my strength! McGahee has been solid, and Norwood, Washington, Young, and Chester Taylor have been servicable in playing matchups. The surprise has been at WR, as Harrison as the first WR off the board in the early 2nd round has basically been a "skip" pick. My only saving grace at WR has been dealing for Edwards early in the year (sorry about Sammy Morris, yr...seriously).
Now here comes the hard part...knocking off IAC in the first round. IAC's squad has been a train the past half of the season and I top out at about 155 points, and he easily hits the 170's. Good luck to all except IAC.

Our AAA league has a rules question:
For clarification, this week only the final 4 teams will be able to add non-prime players or still top 8?

Well I thought I did decently this week - My two best players came through - but Smith just manhandled me. 34 points from a defense is tough to overcome. The Bucs defense also let me down a bit as I thought they had very good matchups for the three weeks of the playoffs.
Thanks for the opportunity to play with the big boys. I'm happy that I was competitive, just bummed that my usual playoff magic could not be summoned. I am now 5-2 in RIFC/Qualifying playoffs.

took a minor miracle to win that one, considering that Brady only got me like 4.5 points. luckily for me, IAC's WR's didn't show up at all. probably the first time all season that happened. good season IAC. bad luck that you don't move on, but at least you're already qualified to come back next season. I still need to win one more for that.

yeah, it's strange rooting for Winfield but not the rest of his teammates. And hoping the Bears offense does something is certainly futile. I just gotta hope the Bears D keeps giving them good field position (I like that gift right before halftime.), and the Bears O don't let the Vikes get a defensive score.

Grats to Yokel and holt for making it to the finals.
Just looking at the outcomes and my own score from last week it is evident that luck was not on my side. There was a game in week 10 or so that I chose to play Longwell over Wilkins at K and it was a 15 point mistake (Wilkins 15, Longwell 0). That mistake cost me a game that week, which would have given me the 5th seed instead of the 6th, and that would have gotten me into the finals. Funny how one bad decision can hold so many consequences down the road.

Hate your cable company for not using all their profits to pay for you to have it. I have Comcast and I have NFL Network. It's part of the "expanded" package, which you need to have to get HD anyhow.

Suddenlink Communications has started up a section on their website called "Play Fair". Suddenlink claims that they want to carry the network and be fair to the customer who want the network and to the customers who don't want the network. The site claims that Comcast and Cox can carry NFL Network on a sports tier and Suddenlink wants the same option and by placing NFL Network on the sports tier allows customers who want the network to pay for it. The site further claims that NFL Network doesn't have the kind of year-long programming that justifies putting it on basic cable services.
Recently Suddenlink made several offers to the NFL Network that included one that would make the NFL Network available; all the network had to do was name its price and keep all advertising and related revenues, with no compensation due to Suddenlink. The NFL Network denied this and other offers on November 27, 2007. Suddenlink claims that the network "reiterating that they would accept nothing less than the same $100 million ransom they demanded more than a year ago." Suddenlink states that they are ready to make a deal with the NFL Network and ask "the citizens and leaders of the communities we serve to contact the NFL and ask them to accept Suddenlink's generous offer of a free channel, widely available to customers who want it."
The other offers Suddenlink proposed but were turned down by the NFL Network were to carry the network on their digital sports tier, at a reasonable fee, and to make NFL Network’s eight live NFL primetime games and its college bowl game coverage available on pay-per-view at a rate determined by the network, with all revenue remitted to the channel.
I do not want Suddenlink caving in to these guys. The cable rates are high enough as it is. I can just picture the NFL honchos sharing some laughs over it in the executive board room with their Direct TV and Dish Network buddies.

Senators Leahy, Specter Warn NFL Of Limited Game Broadcasts
December 20, 2007 7:01 a.m. EST
Christine Agus Gaylican - AHN News Writer
Washington (AHN) - Two senators sent a warning letter to the National Football League on Wednesday asking authorities to make more games available to viewers and not doing so could make the league loose its anti-trust exemption.
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-VT, and Sen. Arlen Specter, R-PA, both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, have warned the league not to limit the broadcast programming reach of NFL games to the benefit of their own NFL Network.
The Senators' written letter quoted on Associated Press said: "Now that the NFL is adopting strategies to limit distribution of game programming to their own networks. Congress may need to reexamine the need and desirability of their continued exemption from the Nation's anti-trust laws."
They have raised concerns that fans in their home states will not be able to see games on the channel involving the New England Patriots or the Pittsburgh Steelers, a related ESPN report said.
The NFL has been in contention with some cable companies regarding the NFL Network's inclusion in their basic cable offerings. This has led to only 40 % of the nation's homes able to watch the games.
Due to the tight distribution airing of the NFL, there are some areas in Vermont or parts of Pennsylvania that could not receive telecasts of the games.
The CNN report said the league favors year-round broadcasts of the entire NFL Network shows lineup and not just of important games.

Yeah, I gotta pay like $6/month for the sports package to get NFL network. The crazy thing is for the first game last year on Thanksgiving, I turn it on ready to watch the game and they're showing some NY firefighters league football game. Then a banner goes across the bottom of the screen saying my cable company (Insight) decided not to pay the extra fee for the games! I called in the next week to complain, and enough others must have that we've since gotten the games, but not in HD.
Now Insight has been bought by Comcast, and it's supposed to switch over at the end of the year. And, Comcast has been unable to negotiate with the Big 10 Network, so despite living not 10 miles from a Big 10 campus, I can only see the games that are on national TV.
Back on topic - Holt, not having NFL network, you missed the forced fumble and recovery that James Harrison had that was overturned - not to mention a sack he should have had right off the bat. So, things could've been worse than just your namesake's stinker.

I'd say that my chances would have been nil if I was playing this week, having Parker go down on the second play. There was alot of offense in that game but the usual suspects didn't show up much.
The NFL network should do what ESPN/TNT did in years past - show the games they broadcast on a local channel for the cities whose teams are playing. I remember this happening in 1991 when channel 9 in DC, the CBS affiliate, showed the Giants/Redskins game that was on ESPN. No big deal in preempting CBS' coverage that night, it only happened to be game 7 of the 1991 World Series.

Yeah, the NBC-affiliate from Indy picked up the Colts game on Thanskgiving; of course it was blacked out outside of Indy for some reason - so people here were screwed unless they had NFL network.
Speaking of the Colts, I just got a pair of tickets for Sunday's game against Houston. I'm on the season ticket waiting list, so I've regularly gotten emails that there were some extra tickets available last minute, but I've never checked my email quick enough. Today, slacking off at home, I happened to check probably within minutes of receiving it. woohoo! Of course now, I won't be able to react to late-breaking fantasy news (not that I have much depth now to speak of), or 'watch' my two super bowls live. Now, hopefully Manning will be playing the whole game...

Yeah I "saw" that Harrison forced fumble/recovery watching the gameday thing at nfl.com. Seeing it overturned on replay was exciting. Not as exciting as watching the game would have been, but it was good.
btw, the two teams I pull for are the Rams and the Steelers. Such a crappy feeling to know they were playing on a Thursday night and I couldn't watch it. It's not like they play each other very often. :/

well, it was a good day to see the Colts play. The offense was able to move the ball at will today, and their D was solid all game as well (allowed the Texans to score on their first drive and then held them until the waning minutes) I hadn't been to a Colts' game in the Peyton era, and the crowd was pumped.
Listening to the updates on the way home it sounded like Brady and the Pats were going to run up the score, but from what I saw in the second half, they didn't look too sharp. It was funny seeing Brady getting sacked and fumbling in the 4Q in a game he shouldn't even have been in.
Hopefully, my guys'll hold on here.. I know fanball is missing a Colts's pick right now, so it looks like I'm up by 9 with 40 minutes of Henderson vs 60 minutes of Wilhelm.

Congrats Slackjaw! I've fallen a little short. 1 TD total between my RB's and receivers isn't going to cut it. Twice I watched the Browns get within touching distance of the end zone, only to throw it to Braylon Edwards. It was a painful day. Before the New England game started I really thought everything was in my favor, but Brady and the Pats def only totaled 32 points. Wasn't meant to be.
Again, congrats on your victory Slackjaw, and thanks to Guru again for throwing this party. Merry Christmas to everyone!
