Cliff, I actually picked this league seeing how lots of the guys I had played with (including you) were in it. Sure, that means less spots to the RIFC will be available for the rest of you guys since I will taking one of the promotions, but I guess that's life ;)
Plus, we need to make our patented one trade per season, and how was I supposed to do that with you in the other league???

All league members are now signed up in fanball.
I plan on starting the draft on Friday August 15th with no clock. I will start a 6 hour clock on Monday August 18th at 7am ET. The clock will be paused between 1am and 7am ET. I expect the draft to complete by Friday August 29th. If the draft pace is too slow, I will give a one day notice before lowering the clock.

My schedule coming up is a little wild. I will be around some but very, very busy the next weekend. Then I head out for a 103 mile ride Friday 8/22 returning 8/23. Other than that I'm around a lot.
One quick question. Are we married to the fanball site and kafe? MFL now supports an identical feature to kafe with some major improvements over kafe as part of any league. We wouldn't have to hold the league there and could draft and move the rosters to fanball if someone has paid. If we did stay at MFL I'd pay a full 1/2 of the total league fee just because of the time it would save me.

I am not willing to move the league from fanball. I spent some time this weekend setting up the league with Judy's help. I don't see any benefit in moving the league to MFL.
The draft can be held anywhere, but if we decide to go hold it on MFL, we need to act soon. I am against moving the draft because I don't think we will be able to get it set up quickly enough to start the draft on Friday.
If the majority of the owners post their preference to move the draft to MFL by the end of the day Tuesday, I will set up the draft on MFL on Wednesday. Otherwise the draft will remain on kafenatid.

I believe Guru would prefer the draft to be done on Kaf because he can pull draft info much more easily.

The key on the Fanball site, is the Double Headers.
We aren't drafting yet.

The advantage over Kafe primarily is the lack of need for "designated pickers". You just set a queue by round and when it hits you you pick. There's no need for a second person to run your draft for you. In this way a whole raft of picks 3,4,6, I've seen as many as 14 picks in a row go off the board all at once. In an IDP deep league like this the last 3-4 rounds are such a waste of time that a queue setup like that works great and when the draft stalls on one person it can pick back up to speed really fast.
I forgot that this league uses double headers for some reason (and allows 8 in the playoffs!lol!)? Ok, well whatever. MFL does not support split rosters. So this will be an obstacle to adopting it full time.
Plus the league can save the 10 bucks or whatever.

Regarding hosting site:
If it appears that no free site will offer the critical features (and I think doubleheader scheduling is an important feature), then we should have the QLs hosted at Fanball as well.
If so, here is my offer:
1. I will reimburse each QL commish for the cost of a fanball league ($69.95)
2. I would request that each QL manager volunatrily contribute $6 toward the hosting cost of the Fanball site, to be contributed in the same manner as a GuruPatron donation. To do this, please use one of the donation methods specified on the
GuruPatron information page (Paypal, Amazon, or check). Although a pro-rata share of the cost is only $5, I'm rounding it up to $6 to compensate for the Paypal or Amazon processing fees. (If you send a check, $5 is sufficient). Please identify your payment as "RIFC donation"
3. If anyone wishes to contribute more than $6, the excess donation will be treated as a GuruPatron donation.
GuruPatron donations are running very low this year, and it's not yet clear that donations this year wil be sufficient to cover costs. But I think it's important that all Qualifying Leagues are hosted at a site that can handle the idiosyncrasies of the scoring and scheduling, so I'll cover the costs, ask for voluntary donations, and hope for the best.

Kafenatid won't let me log in for some reason. It did when I registered, but now it says my username or password are incorrect. I asked for a new password, but none ever showed in my email. I emailed KKB for help, but have yet to get a response.
Anyone have a better way to communicate with KKB aka Fred aka Kafenatid? I don't want to hold the draft up.

As for SJ, I took the 9 spot with the belief that Barber or Lynch would fall to me (assuming Brady - and SJ - would go early). Once SJ, was the last man standing, I didn't think Portis was the guy for me, and I couldn't talk myself into Moss. I may be riding that AA train next year!

unbelievable...I didn't turn on the friggin. My head is so far up my a$$. I AM SO SORRY .... AND EMBARRASSED TO BE SUCH AN INCOMPETENT.
Hosting/arranging/leading my wife's company-wide team building seminar highlighted with constant open bickering and finger pointing has been grueling. The good news is I think, as a 30+ person company, the corner to respect and better communication was turned.
I apologize to each of you for not giving you an adequate "heads up" to it has so totally dominating my life and few remaining brain cells the past weeks.
Now I've got some road trips coming up...Monday and Tuesday...next Sunday through Tuesday. Can't figure out why drafts are never held when I don't have anything to do. Must be Murphy's Law (who was Murphy anyway).
I have this minute turned on my queue and made free form available. In the future, If I haven't made pick in 10 minutes, my designated Picker's are requested to please call my cell 512-801-6605 and ask me to give them a name to select on my behalf.

No problem with this weekend Taxman.
Starting at 7am tomorrow when I turn on the 6 hour clock, I expect picks to be made in a timely manner.
If you are not going to be around for a couple of hours and your pick is coming up soon, create a queue and allow a DP to make the pick for you. Post any special instructions on this thread. The full 6 hours should not normally be used to make a pick. I expect most picks to be made in 2 hours or less.

It looks like TD is unavailable for a few hours, so, you should probably pick who Beezer wants, and he in turn will pick who you want when his pick comes up. I assume that TD will be back to fix the trade before the 4th round, but, if not, you'll need to do the same thing in that round.

I have some objections. I'll be on total internet blackout from noon friday to probably 6pm saturday.
Given the overwhelming limitations of kafe with it's queue system being what it is I'd prefer not to be autopicked too many times in what are the "transistional" rounds where people are mixing it up between offense and defense players.
The holdup seems to be with one or two people.

Given your situation, if it is your turn to pick on Saturday, I won't start your 6 hour clock until 6pm. If it is your turn to pick on Friday afternoon, your pick may be skipped if you don't designate a DP. I suggest you designate a DP and leave a queue on Friday with instructions to use it for only one pick.
There will be a 6 hour clock for everyone else all day Saturday.

The draft pace has been too slow, and at this pace we won't finish by Friday 8/29.
I plan on lowering the clock on Monday morning to help with the pace, but I am not sure what to set it to. A couple of people frequently take about 4 hours to make a pick, so I don't think lowering the clock to 4 hours will really help matters. Would it cause any hardship to lower the clock to 2 hours on Monday morning? Post your thoughts here, and I will make a decision on the clock tomorrow afternoon.

Every year it is the same.
If you use the projections from the fisrt rounds it makes it look like we will not finish on time.
These drafts tend to speed up as they progress.
Cutting the time to two hours and timing out picks so we can finish a week ahead of schedule is not a good idea.

I'd prefer to not speed up the draft at this point. I think we'll pick up the pace and finish in the time required. Even if we need to speed up, I'd rather cut it really short in the last 3-4 rounds when a skipped pick has a smaller impact.

I want to apologize to everyone. My wife called me at work last night saying she didn't feel well. I was going to update my queue and turn it on before I left, but didn't since she wanted me home right away. By the time I got the kids fed, entertained, and into bed I went to bed. I completely forgot about the draft until this morning when I got to work and saw that I had timed out. I apologize, I'll have a queue set for my remaining picks and put everyone in as DPs. I'm going to be on the road from this starting this evening until Saturday evening.

I will lock all rosters at around 9PM Saturday, and we will have a period of 2 days during which you can submit free agent claims. Claiming priorities will be based on the even round draft order. After claims are processed at around 9PM Monday, free agent add/drops transactions will be allowed (although any players dropped via the claiming process will go through a 2-day waiver period.
