RSF is going to take 1.5 points away from me if he gets 3 assists and 1 steal, so you have your work cut out for you, Ref.

Yes, and I should take a point from you in rebounds. So there is a tie with that alone. So then it comes down to the other cats. That's why the inability to play Perkins yesterday could really hurt me. Cost me a point in FGP, OREB and BLKS. Doubt I can get those back tonight. Should be able to get REBs so I didn't count that. MIght also be able to get one in FGP but I don't know. A bad shooting night could also cost me a point. Same thing for FTP--where I've been bad lately. Still considering benching some players to try and protect that--but it has cost me already in the past couple weeks when I've done that. Doubt that I get that point back in steals as my guys just don't do that well on average--hence the 5. But I've crunched the numebrs and I am just hoping for no disasters and a little luck in key cats. I couldn't hold of bmd last season and key injuries have left me trying to patch up cats with FA scrubs. But it's all good. We all go thorugh that and I know going into the final day, I have a shot to win it. Have never been very good in hoops--so a title would be very gratifying.

Yeah, we've all been hit hard with injuries. I mean, missing a quarter of a season from KG and Iverson definitely has a negative effect on my rankings. Once AI signs with some scrubby team, life will be good again.

I havent looked too deep on where things might land, outside of the cats I'll snarf from KF.

And if they give full credit for all players in the lineup when you have 1 game left...well that is a really lame loophole!

KF,

All games give full credit for going over on the final day. There is no way to stop it from a technical aspect. It's always been like this for every game and every league I've ever played in. Shocked you didn't know it.

Think I might bench Chandler for today afterall. Going back and forth. I'm readying where he might only get 15 mins of PT and he's bound to be rusty. Picked up a guy who doesn't get mcuh PT normally (At times none) but when he does get some, he's pretty efficient and one of the starters is likely out tonight. Really tricky htough cuz his FTP is bad.

I am truly looking forward to next season. With 4 1st round picks, I am looking to rebuild in a strong way, and while the college guys declaring aren't exceptional this year, I have been checking out the extra fat on current rosters and have a nice game plan all lined up!

Make me an offer, b6 :-)

Good luck to all tonight. Its fun when the hard work over six months comes down to the final night for the win.

Like others, I never was in the running this year, but one cool thing about your team in a keeper league is 'there's always next year.'

btw, Elon you're too old for these rookie mistakes!

PR...

I already have my keepers in place! I hope to use all those picks to pick up great players to build with!

Of course, I would never be against moving a pick and a player for a better player.

Maybe I should come up with a solid gameplan before I just make tons of crazy moves like I did this year...

congrats Ref!

when I took over the team mid-season it was way behind in games played, so all I tried for the rest of the season was maximizing the games played without falling too deep. I only came short 14 games, so that was a pretty good job. finishing 8th isn't too bad either. I think I took over when I was in the 10-12 range and Guru was still in front of me. seeing Guru fall that quick shows me how fast a team can fall. and this can happen to me too. maybe it will, when I look through all the aging bodies on my team. I am still wondering what happened to Grant Hill. for the first time in his 14 years in the NBA he played in all 82 games. and that at age 36. can he repeat? does anyone want him?

Thanks guys. Looks like I beat BMD to be the first one to win all three of our deep Gurupie Leagues! This one might be the most rewarding since it's my weakest of the three.

As YR and Guru alluded, you can fall so fast since we have so many teams who are so bunched together. I went froma comfortable lead to third place pretty quickly.

Doing all the math yesterday, I had a good idea what I needed to get to maximize points and how far I could fall with a miserable night from my guys and good nights from my opponents players. The one cat. I felt I had the best cnce of gianing (outside of the sure point in Reb) was blocks. Was pretty frustrating watching the Portland/Denver game when Prz and Roy didnt play much while Birdman played a lot and racked up those blocks (including oen that counted which was really a goaltend). Jordan didn't get much run either even though his team was down 30.

However, my other guys did well enough in shooting to get me the two points max in FGP. Was going back and forth for that last point. Also got the point in steals. Then I was like, man I don't need them to play to get that point in block as it could give back a FGP or even a FTP. Then I saw RSF falling in other cats and I knew I had it.

Luck is so key. Perhaps not as much as the H2H in fotball from week to week in the finals--but still.

Finally, we have at least one opening in G24 Football. If you're interested, let me know.

Looks like there were three teams who didn't hit 90% of max games. Out of 720 max games those three had 603, 617 and 638 games played.

YR did an incredible job--going form the least used games when he took over to 713 GPs. Great job!

[284] Yeah, you have to be careful what kind of slackers you invite into your league, lol. My experience this year was that with as many games played as are required/allowed - 90 per slot - and with only four bench slots - with this many teams and this thin of a FA pool - if you get hit by injuries, it's pretty tough to make those games up, esp. by anyone worth rotating in and out the line up day in and day out. Caron B missed 15 games for me, Marquis Daniels missed 28, and Ginobili missed 38 games. After I traded Lee for Bynum, I missed most of the rest of his games, so covering their actual (82) games played was enough of a challenge with the thin FA talent pool, much less coming up up with an extra 8 games played per starter. On the self-incriminating side, most managers made more FA moves than I did and every once in a while life got in the way and Wade ended up on the bench instead of in the lineup as he should have been, due to trying to rotate a fringe player in to his spot on a night off to pick up an extra game.

Well, obviously lots of others were able to hit or approach the max, so perhaps this difficulty was more of an issue with my team for whatever reason than others.

[285] thanks! ESPN is supposed to save our lineups but it's always good to have a backup.

[286] I hate thinking my studs are in the lineup and finding out too late they aren't! I often will set my lineup in advance any time I have to pull one of them out of my lineup on a given day.

As for the ESPN site, it was actually better than expected in some areas and fell short in a couple other areas. The downside for me was the live standings page often locked up for me. The team page's live stats were great though. It would be cool if ESPN could fix the standings page. Also hated that you had to switch pages in order to see them rather than scorll down, etc. But would take it as it is rather than having the team page lock up!!! Also wish it would trend like CBS does. I have to figure out where I've gained/lost points at times and how many. CBS' live scoring is really nice--but they also are fee-based. NBA.com's is free though and at least their live standings set up is better.

The only other thing I can readily think of was the games max at 720 rather than 90/position. But with our set up of simply G, F and C, it really doesn't impact us much at all. So I am fine with that afterall.

I also wonder if the Craig Smith "glitch" to FA instead of Waiers was because he was picked up and released the same day--even though he played in a game that day.

7th place team only gets 5 balls. Give one 2, and the other 3.

Or, since they presumably both get some prize money, exclude both from the lottery.

[306] is the issue. Both get to split prize money. My htought was either to flip to see who got the chance to get both or to exclude both. My guess would be to exclude since the original lottery idea was to give everyone a chance who didn't hit the prize money to get a chance at the lottery.

Also, with us not doing the plaque anymore and Mike D hitting the prize pool w/o being eligible, I need to get with Guru to see where we're at with excess cash.

What we used to do was throw a non-partcipant's winnings to the winner's winnings unless the winner was ineligible then we split it up. However a couple seasons ago we went ahead and moved everyone below him up and thre the $15 into the trophy fund. I assume we will do that again this season--but at some point, we may want to pass some of the excess out. Just want to keep enough in each season to take care of the trophy w/o having to pony up a buck each.

Anyhow, this would mean the two tied teams would divide up 5th place money--which gives them more than their entry fee back. So my guess is that wew ill exlude them and leave that spot open. If that spot comes up we will re roll. (Chances are almost nil that it would come up anyhow).

We actually have alot of money in the prize pool. Guru suggested that instead of distributing all that cash to the winners, we simply reduce next year's prize pool dues. I like that idea. Also, that's a better idea than moving guys up/down because a winner wasn't in the pool.
