The USPS is set to lose nearly $7 billion this year (mostly, IMO, because of rules which prevent them from making a profit and therefore doesn't cushion then during economic downtimes).
A list of post offices which they are looking to cut (including local ones open to the public and servicing particular zip codes) is here (pdf). |

It could well be obsolete. This one is maybe 6 short blocks east of my building and there's another much larger post office about a mile away in the opposite direction.

they are not allowed to reinvest and/or save revenues? That really is recipe for disaster.

Yeah, that's why postage goes up in strange increments. It would be far better to do it in 5 cent increments for a first class stamp and then raise the rate far less often.
